With the release of the Apple Watch Ultra 2, we really only saw incremental changes to the same overall design, battery life and other features that we got with the Apple Watch Ultra 1. With releases like this in tech recently, it begs the question...should we be waiting to upgrade for each "new model". It seems like most products released lately...whether it be the iPhone 15, TV's or anything else tech like the Apple Watch...are really new model releases. Today that is the subject on when you should buy...

Would you say its a good upgrade to go from the Apple Watch SE to the Ultra 2? I feel its gonna be the same, just bigger and brighter screen. Same features plus a few extra that might not be worth it? Idk. What are y’alls thoughts?

That is a big upgrade not only in hardware but also specs. If you need a watch that can do more and is more durable. Yes it is.

I returned my watch due to auto dimming is too low to see the screen in the dark environments. The watch is great for me, first time buyer. I’m waiting until they fixed the dimming issues.

Still rocking an apple watch series 5. Almost decided to get the ultra 2 but the series 5 still does everything I need. Maybe ill wait for the ultra 3 then upgrade

The Ultra is a big upgrade IF you need the durability, waterproofing and other features that make it unique from the regular series. If those are things you don't need...it can be a lot more for little tangible benefit.

Apple Watch 5 and below have exceptionally bad battery life for various reasons, a refurbished SE 2 for $200 would be a massive upgrade let alone the ultra.

well I actually done the same thing...almost. I bought my Ultra 1 just a couple days before the 2. All the leaks I seen which were true was of no extra value to me really considering I saved myself just over a $200 on a new Ultra 1

If you like using siri away from paired iphone, the u2 with s9 works much better, enabling nearly all siri functionality when solo. That and double the onboard memory, 64GB, made the decision to upgrade logical. The faster and more capable s9 - akin to an A15 phone chipset should also be able to take advantage of future OS upgrades and capabilities better than the s8 in the u1.

I don't use Siri a lot so it isn't as important. That is a good point though.

Tech companies are trying harder and harder to get you to buy the latest thing because we aren't seeing the big improvements anymore. Makes me think of the iPads. Apple threw M1 in the Air and Pro models but almost no software can take advantage of it.

Apple is not trying harder😂. All their products are already decided 5-10 years ahead😂. They have psychologists of what features are just enough for some people who are ready to buy.
