Blind reaction and commentary on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 5 Episode 23 - The Hooffields and McColts. I recorded and edited this late last night, and was already quite tired when I started, so yeah, enjoy! :-)

Applegeek, you'll never believe this! I just checked on Netflix, and they renamed the mlp season 5 1 and 2 episodes to the season finale names of the Cutie Remark parts 1 and 2! Granted it's still the first two episodes but it was funny to see!😂

+misty miller Meh, wouldn't be the first time Netflix has glitched. After all, they revealed the episode titles and synopsis for all the episodes in the second half of season 5, which won't even be on Netflix for a while yet.

Well, she probably wasn't thinking straight due to having to hold her spell. All on which she was focused was trying to keep them frozen long enough for Fluttershy to tell them their backstory.

Yes that was a callback to the to with sister's old castle when every pony was freaking out and twilight in you couldn't get no calm down so she used a freezing spell

Technically, Twilight only stopped four ponies (Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Fluttershy) back in "Castle Mane-ia" while they were all running around the center of the old Castle of Two Sisters. But, I guess she could have extended that to herself and Pinkie Pie if she really wanted to.

Yeah I totally caught on to the Trojan horse reference with the cake and the ponies jumping out of it. Also the Wuthering Hooves = the Wuthering Heights lol. Yeah I feel the same with the Spike abuse, don't like it at all; while I'm a girl Spike is one of my favorite characters in the show his facial expressions, his sarcastic remarks, his helpful nature ect is just great. XD. This was a decent enough episode, not one of my favorites but I enjoyed it well enough. XD.

Great and rather funny reaction! 8:57 I think this is a parody from Forest Gump, Bubba talking about different types of shrimp. Also, you may or may not know this, but this episode is a parody of the Hatfields & McCoys, a true story, about real families living in West Virginia (Kentucky?). It started with one family stealing a pig they thought was theirs or something, and ends with both (huge) families massacring each other. The History channel did a 3 part mini series on it, with some famous actors. It's worth a watch if you don't know the history.

+Haylox Havok Yep, was fully aware this was based on the Hatfields and McCoys. I think you're right about the Forrest Gump reference though, didn't notice that before. Again, the writers are really clever at hiding references in plain sight. Oh, one other thing I realized after the fact was the color schemes at play here. Aside from the colors of their manes, note the colors of the flags standing on each hill. This was literally a Red vs. Blue battle. :D

The episode is a reference to the Hatfield-McCoy feud, one of the most long and bloodshedding family feud in USA history. It's also a reminder of what our world's wars are: an useless waste of time and resources, where no one gains anything!

The Smoky Mountains isn't a random place! The Smoky Mountains is the most heavily visited national park in the US! More than 11.3 million recreational visits in 2016. Speaking of *mountains* Elevations in the park range from approximately 875 feet at the mouth of Abrams Creek to 6,643 feet at Clingmans Dome. Sixteen mountains peaks exceed 6,000 feet in elevation. Also this episode is based on a rival against the *Hatfields* and The *McCoys* , two families that lived in the West Virginia-Kentucky area along the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River in the years 1863-1891.

This was a pretty good episode. I think it's somewhere in between of "Made in manehattan" and "The lost treasure of griffonstone" (Being The lost treasure of griffonstone the better one)

+Bill Erak Dragón Dorado Hmm, hadn't even really thought about how I would rate this episode compared to others. All I know is that it was the perfect episode to watch in tired-silly mode. :) It was actually a bit of fresh air too though, with all new ponies and a new location, not just another visit to places and ponies we've already seen. Oh, I guess I will say that in terms of Fluttershy character development, I would probably rate it second or third favorite. My current favorite Fluttershy episode is still Filli Vanilli. Scare Master was quite good as well, but I think I'm gonna call that one third and this one second. I really liked how Fluttershy really stuck to the task at hand in this one, still being shy but making sure the animals were being taken care of, and then of course there was that face she had near the end of the episode that was just priceless! I'm sure that face will be meme'd, can't wait to see what people come up with for that.

Also I was wondering when MLP was gonna do a villain episode where they try to alter the past. I mean seriously. Wait a minute, in every season and movie there is only one villain in it. Starlight Glimmer was the only one to make an evil comeback if you saw the Preview for the 5th season finale. I'm guessing there is gonna be a new villain in season six, and I don't count Discord doing a comeback to being evil because he said that he was mostly reformed, and he gave Twilight her key, so to me he's forgiven.

+misty miller Interesting point about none of the other villains returning though. Well actually, Discord sort of did, but in a roundabout way, and yeah, while he's always gonna be mischievous, I don't think it would make sense for him to ever go dark side again, not after what happened with Tirek. And yes, I'm aware that Starlight Glimmer is coming back, and that the episodes involve time travel, but I'm doing my best to avoid further spoilers, including not watching that preview trailer that started floating around yesterday. FWIW, I do have a theory or two about what Starlight might try to pull, but I'm trying not to think about it too much. I actually had a nightmare last night about her stealing and destroying the CMC's cutie marks so that they could never get them back, so yeah, the less I know, the better at this point. :D

Applegeek, at 17:40, it is a reference to a nightmare night episode when AJ, RD rarity and fluttershy were screaming because they were scared. Twilight had to freeze them to get them back in their hooves

Hey Mr. Applegeek can you do an episode on Castle Sweet Castle? Out of the entire show it is the most memorable episode. It made me sad and happy at the same time! I love it so much!😭😄 also I think ever since the lost treasure of Griffonstone episode she's been waiting for the map to call her.

+misty miller That was definitely a good episode, and it (along with that one scene in Do Princesses Dream of Magic) is what inspired my Golden Oak Library Tribute video. Please give that a watch if you haven't already! As for doing that episode, do you mean like a re-watch and review? I've seen all the previous episodes multiple times, so it wouldn't be a blind reaction, rather just a retroactive review of some kind. It's not out of the question, I'm just wondering what kind of format you're looking for.

+misty miller Actually the first one was Crusaders of the Lost Mark, but the point is moot. Believe me, I wish I had been doing these since the beginning of the series, as they're fun to do. But yeah, there's no way I would have any meaningful reaction or comments if I hadn't seen all the previous episodes. I'm gonna be looking for things to do in the months following the season 5 finale though, so let me know if you have any suggestions.

tord the end of this episode always pissed me off I hate how much the animals depend on others to survive its like the wild animals are really just pets I mean there is not enough food for them when there is literally food being just carelessly being thrown EVERYWHERE as ammunition and at 16:49 hey badger you are LITERALLY SURROUNDED BY YOUR PREY you should be eating like a king/queen (can't really tell what his/her gender really is).

It was kind of fun doing it late like that, as mildly amusing things become hilarious when I'm really tired, but I definitely don't want to be doing it that way for the season finale though. I still can't believe I did the "feud fight!" thing, because I just got done groaning over all the bad puns in What About Discord.

Oh come on, puns are an ART. The only way to get better at them is by trying them out, seeing which kinds fly with which people and go from there. I at least love em', course, I am a pun-ster, and anyone who doesn't appreciate them gets pun-ished and sent to the pun-itentary, and then never gets they're pun-sion for retirement. But regardless, I gotta try! xD :D ... ... Or should I say I gotta Twi? Cause Twilight and Rainbow Dash are always tied for best pony in my book lol. xD

Does everyone get the feeling that the story Fluttershy told that it was another cliche that two best friends had different ideas that want to change the world for the better they got into an argument they fought and then they built different Villages from across each other and and guess what the problem is revolved around the animals of course that's kind of seems silly if I was in a situation I will let them fight butt out and they'll resolve it on the own I've said it once and I'll say it again friendship doesn't solve everything I'm not trying to be rude don't hate me on this but it's true cuz I know that's what this show's purposes is about it shows how friendship can be magic in so many ways friendship maybe forever but they can come and go to but family is eternal and they never die
