exciting stuff and very well explained. I have been looking for tips on automating tasks with AppleScript but couldn’t find anything convincing. I hope you will raise enough interest to keep the channel going. Good luck!

Appreciate, but can get to first base. First, do I need the Utilities Folder box on the right. When I started recording the record button is greyed out, and there is no folder on the bottom right. Need AppleScript for dummies to get the very basics. Thx, I'll try to catch up. Update: Got the record to start but can't stop it and can't figure out how to tell it to add a new folder.

is there a command to make the computer sleep? im on a 2014 model

Hello Hilt, Yes, you should be able to put your computer to sleep with this command. tell application “System Events” sleep end tell

This moves too fast. Seems designed for Apple nerds only and not for a virgin word processosr. Also, how come my previous comment was removed??? You censor comments? Really?

If only there were a way to slow down the play back. They could put it in--oh I don't know--options. And what's with the fact that you cannot stop the video or go back? I'm upset that this free video doesn't suitably indulge me. Me. Me. Me. Clearly you move to slow. I suggest you take a tutorial on KZfaq first. Or have a 12 year old explain it to you very, very slowly.

Hi I’m trying to write a script in script editor but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Its @echo off ipconfig /all > report.txt echo Press any key to view report pause > nul notepad report.txt Not sure if you can tell me where I’m going wrong. Please.

Hey melissagooden9915, what language are you trying to write in? That is not AppleScript, it looks more like a shell script. You can use shell commands in AppleScript, but you have to preface the command with the phrase do shell script. For example… do shell script “ipconfig /all > report.txt”
