Every year about 2000 offshore workers arrive primarily from Mexico and Jamaica to tend the orchards and vineyards in Niagara. Some are here as long as eight months of the year. Being separated from families and friends is a hardship and their are few opportunities to develop friendships and experience fellowship.
Newworldson has been part of our Welcome concerts for since 2007 and Josh has been an important part of music team on Sunday nights. This year the Workers Welcome had not just one but two world class acts as the Toronto Mass Choir brought their gifts to the table and we were all able to share in the musical feast that night. Thanks to everyone who helped create a night we will never forget! With such great support from farmworkers to locals we raised $5000 for Grace Children's Hospital in Port au Prince.
