I think wing chun has a bad name for a reason but then there are a few that really know how to use it and that's what we've got here. I wonder, was he influenced at all by Bruce's fighting principles?

The problems of WC: 1. WC is based on the theory of the distance of the sticky hands. As the UFC in practice proofed this distance is nearly non existent. Every fight gets fast back into a further away kicking and striking distance or into a closer Thai clinching or standup wrestling distance. 2. I would argue, that the theory of basing the whole fight theory mainly on the distances is not totally wrong, but outdated: A fight is more useful subdivided in standing phases and ground phases. And the decisive phase in between is the clinching phase, which usually gets to less attention in most styles. Specially in WC. 3. WC is too solid, too stable, the stance too deep. So the WC practitioner is not moving randomly around with his feet or bobbing and weaving with upper body movements, as a boxer does, but offers a stable target. This is a huge mistake. In any kind of confrontation, wars as well, the unpredictability is key. 4. WC theory is, that more, but less hard chain punches add up to the same effect of one hard boxing punch. This is simply wrong: The human body can adept over time to a lot of challenges, see even radioactivity and deadly doses over time: You can survive a dose over a month, which would kill you if exposed over one day. If you get challenged to hard per time frame, like with a boxing punch, you get a simple fight ending knock out. Which is hard to achieve with chain punches. 5. WC has no answer to ground fights. And worse: the stance with the weight backwards on the rear leg even invites takedowns. 6. The sticky hand concept does not work, if the attacker does not make contact before striking: than the reaction time of the blocking defender is longer, than the striking time of the attacker. So blocks dont work when you have to decipher the attack with the eyes. 7. The theory of occupying the middle with chain punches does not work. In theory the other guy cant punch through the middle, because its occupied and cant punch around, because the reach needed, would be to long. But a fast moving boxer tries to create angles anyway. That is, what good boxing is about. And therefore the boxer ttacks around the middle from the sides. 8. WC is missing "aliveness". Or "pressure testing" which is only another word for the same thing: WC operates with cooperating attackers, called Uke in other martial art sports. Thats not working. You need sparring. A real attacker never cooperates. I am curious for your opinions and counterarguments.
