I'm only talking about myself here, but. My favourite content on this channel, by far, is the "actual woodworking" part of guitar building. Everything from choosing the pieces of wood, cutting, carving, gluing together until the finish goes on. That's definitely what I come back for. Obviously this channel shows a lot more things as well, from other sources of inspiration, luthier teardowns and whatnot, but videos like this one and the previous one are the most up my alley.

When Ben said about next video, before braking the teasing, I was thinking "maybe gold leaf or silver". And yeah, Ben is coming back :) that's fun !

Gold leaf on the inside of the F holes! Just those lines the thickness of the top... As an accent. That would look sick!

If there is anything i have learned from you it is that the wood TELLS you what it wants to be. If you fight that you end up starting over and going right back to what it TOLD you it wanted to be.

I'm happy the "Burn it!" clip for the intro is back! The guitar looks really cool too, the shape has grown on me Edit: Is it just me or does it look almost like there's a skull in the wood grain at 16:16? If you tilt your head to the left and follow the shape of where the pink stain has been applied, you see almost a skull like pair of eye sockets and nasal cavity in the grain!

I love the way you talk about building a guitar at this year's Glastonbury like it's not going to take you over a year to finish! Still, good things come to those that wait! (Is that hand tool build finished yet?)

Thanks for showing the stains. I used the stunning stains (alcohol based) and found that, the 2nd colour simply removed the previous colour, so I ended up pre mixing them. I wondered if using a layer of water base then alcohol base would work and you demonstrated that it does. Thanks Ben.

I'm at a point where I've made just enough guitars to know that I prefer guitars made by other people/factories.

When you applied the second coat of pink stain, the grain really popped, in what some call the "3D effect" . Would you say that that effect is more in the piece wood, or more a result of the staining process, i.e. could you make this happen on any figured wood, or would you need a special piece of wood to pull it off?

Getting all my GGBO2021 entry completely unfinished because it was only with the stain that I noticed the horrible job I did with the sanding. It was good enough for an amateur video on youtube (especially for those watching on their phones) but I demand more of myself and I wasn't happy with that.

"Let me know if you'd like to see that" (circle stamped pseudo sunburst) Ummm, hell yes. Duh! It sparked an avenue of thought. There's countless art styles that could be applied to custom shop level guitars. Pointillism, Geometric etc. Even reinterpreting traditional guitar finishes (sunburst, silver bust, cherry burst etc) in a different art style, could be an interesting fusion for a limited run series (video and custom shop collection). 🤔 It seems like "custom shop" generally means crazy flame/quilt/burl tops (and exemplary workmanship obvs). But there's a potential avenue for "simpler" tops with unique art. Like the some of the annual Fender masterbuilt Prestige collection.

Am I the only one who found the rubbing sound of the paper on wood almost like fingernails on a chalkboard? I enjoyed the video and the final result, but at certain points I had to mute it!
