Newbie potter hear from Alberta. Your videos are very easy to follow and I really appreciate how you explain to throw mugs. I have been struggling lately but feel things will improve after your instructions. Thank you and I hope you are able to care for your thumb and get some feeling back. I love your photos of the ocean....So Beautiful.

Hi! I am from the south of England and have been potting for about 3 months and have just discovered throwing with porcelain and am in love with it! Thank you for your excellent video! I wish I had a wall but it is a lot easier with porcelain! 😂 I gave up with the rough stuff, it did my back in.

Hi Anna, Good luck with the porcelain, my experience with it was a lot of cracking from handling. I switched to B-Mix 5 from Laguna Clay company which is almost the same without the cracking. I am from the UK too, moved to N.America in 1985.

Thank you for making this video, Mr.Smith. Most of my mugs are made by you. Now I am living in GTA, Ontario. I very often miss those days I used to visit LaHaye and your pottery studio. I love your artworks and all my kitchenware and mugs from your studio are still very beautiful, handy and simply they are lovely! Thank you again and please take care of your fingers, thumbs and your health! -Youngju from ON.

thankyou for sharing, you make it look so simple. I started adult education classes some time ago and could have done with this video then, however I love to watch 'Experts' in their field showing how to make any and all types of item. I enjoy throwing and your videos are just amazing, your decoration is amazing . I due back in class tomorrow morning and will centre as you've shown me today and who knows where that will lead me. thanks again

Thank you for sharing all your excellent skills and tips. I get a bruise from the edge of the pan. I saw a youTube video suggestion and started using a pool noodle cut along the length, on the pan edge. It's a really cheap fix! $1.25 later and so far, so good.

Hi Vaughan. Do you ever wax your handles while they dry so they don't dry too quickly? I've seen potters do that. I live in a dryer climate than you do (Orange County, California).

I sometimes put saran wrap over the handles but mostly I put all my pieces in large damp cupboards to slow the drying.
Three canisters thrown, trimmed and decorated.
