Aprilaire not getting water - How to fix a bad transformer on a whole-house humidifier

My Aprilaire whole house humidifier stopped working. It is an Aprilaire model 568 humidifier. It no longer was drawing water to humidify my home. In this video I will show you how to diagnose and replace a bad transformer in an Aprilaire humidifier. The replacement part is inexpensive and all you need is a multimeter to diagnose the transformer. Here is what you need:

Appreciate the video. I thought I could deal with this. I checked and no power from the 24v wire but once I went into the furnace it was a maze of wires not going directly into any transformer but into the control board. so the more 'efficient' and complex these furnaces become, the more we become dependent on very high paid expensive professionals. No longer is it possible to fix yourself. Its not really possible for me to fix this on my high efficiency furnace. Not a happy camper will have to dish out over $100 when i know whats wrong but cant fix it myself.

Same issue and I haven’t checked with multimeter yet. But my Aprilaire 600 was installed December of 2021. Transformer was brand new. I’m sure hoping that isn’t the case. I’m not getting water pulled into the humidifier from hot water tank (copper wire isn’t warm)

I have checked, the transform input line itself no power coming so some wiring issue inside pcb

Was the furnace running at the time? May only be powered while the furnace is running.

I checked that I have power going to my water valve. However, my water valve doesn’t seem to open. I ordered a new one online and hooked it up and still doesn’t seem to open and let water through. Is it possible I received a bad valve. Any way to test these

It could be a bad valve. The way I would test it is to install it like you did. Did you double check that the water is turned back on after replacing the valve?

@@nathanweiderspahn9535 Yes. I have water turned on, valve installed, and verified there is 24 volts going to valve when humidistat is on

@@brentkommes5701sounds like most likely a bad valve.
