what to use AM and what to use PM. As far as I understand The Ordinary products Retinol and lactic acid or any other acids shouldn’t be used at same time. Most of this products shouldn’t be used together. You should clarify what to use on daily bases, you just throw the list and let sisters burn their faces :( For your subscriber: Am: Clean your face, apply Niacinamide & zinc serum first. Mix 100% square line serum with moisturizer and apply. (You can use vitamin C which is ascorbic acid in days when you are not using Niacinamide) PM: apply 100% square-line on to clean skin, apply 0,2% retinol and follow with moisturizer. Do not use Lactic acid with Retinol ever.

Very good info, with the exception of the Squalene I am using all of these in addition to Finacea azelaic acid15% and Altreno tretanoin 0.05% to help with hormonal acne caused PIH and anti-aging. The Ordinary is a great and affordable back up to the prescription drugs, I use their retinol .5% on my neck, upper chest and the back of my hands. The lactic acid 10% once a week and the salicylic mask once a week keep my pores nice and clear!

Idk , my mom is a Medical esthetician (so not beauty) but she said that the best way to tell if someone is legit or not is if they overly recommend hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most overrated skin humectant apparently , glycerin does everything is does and better My mom was so upset when the ordinary mixed their lactic acid solution with HA instead of glycerin, she though they would’ve known better

Hi April, great video! I was wondering - is squalane also used as an occlusive (albeit a lighter one) in addition to being an emollient in formulations? One that can pull double duty, kinda like Shea butter? My face moisturizer (the new Vanicream one) doesn’t seem to have the other traditional occlusives, so I guess it must be the squalane?

I use lactic acid for that. I even use it on the heels of my feet to keep them soft. Keep in mind you have to be patient. Hyperpigmentation is not something that you get get rid of over night. Being consistent and preventing hyperpigmentation is key so you’re not working backwards to get rid of it.

I’m soooo confused... i grew up homeless and without family and only in my 30s am I learning.. and getting to do things like this and even knowing they exist...! I’m really really confused though.. there was a lot of mention about hyper pigmentation.. I don’t really get that.. I’ve never really worn make up and also because I hardly had money - water was the only option lol so my skin is pretty cool... I guess I’m wondering what to use to maintain.. I have some dark marks on my neck (PCOS In grown hairs which I now thread) .. but at the moment just wanna smooth out the lines between my nose and mouth.. and just have healthier skin... So I still use these things or do I use something else? I’m in my early 30’s... and honestly I’m a complete baby at all this Thanks for having channels dedicated to US DSBW ❤️❤️❤️ helps sooo much and also actually weirdly gives you confidence that you exist! Thanks!

I know you have a ton of questions to answer, but what about the granactive retinoids? They suggest them instead of the retinol as they say there are more visible benefits as well as less possibility of irritation. What do you think? There is 2 and 5%. One in squalene and the other in an emulsion. Idk which one to get 😖
@AprilBasi
@AprilBasi 3 жыл бұрын
honestly I would get a standard retinol before I get a granactive one..apparently granactive retinoids are supposed to mimic prescription retinoic acid (tretnoin) but theres still a lot of research being done on them so I wouldn't trust opinions on them quite yet!

If you are going to use AHA's, work your way up. Start with a Mandelic Acid toner, much larger molecules which will mean much less damage to your pores.

Out of Alpha Abrutin and Lactic Acid, which one is best?
@AprilBasi
@AprilBasi 3 жыл бұрын
so those serve 2 completely different purposes on the skin. alpha arbutin per my video here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hsCCh6eaudqvcoU.html is a plant-derived form of hydroquinone which is the gold standard when it comes to skin brightening. Lactic acid per my video here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qNSSdNqcrpPNko0.html is an alpha hydroxy acid. It's a chemical exfoliator that helps reduce dead skin cells on the surface of the skin to help prevent acne...so I can't tell you which one is best as they work differently.

@@Lannie25 I used this because my forehead was full of bumps and it sucked and some acne on my right cheek area. It really helped to clear those bumps on my forehead and rest of my skin and then I started being more aware of my skin routine. I never stopped using it for a while because I felt it helped and it seemed that when I would stop, I would need to make a purchase but I don’t have money like that and paid for it myself so I had to stop. I went to Japan for a bit and I ran out of it, (they don’t deliver out of country) my skin still looked clear and healthy for the most part and then suddenly something triggered a massive breakout that has been hard to get rid of. I got back to curology when I came back to US and I’m using it now and it has kind of helped a bit but not cleared up all the way. I hope you find some result. I will say though that my forehead has never gone back to the way it used to be and I’m grateful for that! My younger sister did a trial and it seems she got the exact same like portions and subscribed thing as I did and I got a bit confused because her skin is so clear compared to mine so I wonder if they prescribe the same like dosage to everyone? I don’t know. My biggest goal now is to have my skin nice without being dependent on it and with less expensive longer lasting products if you know what I mean :). Sorry this is so lengthy, ask me any questions you might have since I have used it for a long while, I have some experience with it 👍🏾
