My teacher teaches us a cool way to write our introduction. Basically, he first tells us to start the introduction with what the question is asking, like "Between bla bla and bla" and make it a hook. Then, he makes us use the Thesis Formula, which is "X. However, A, B, and C. Therefore, Y." X is our counterargument. A, B, and C are our three major points for our argument. and Y is the answer to the prompt. Just figured I would share this. :)

Hey, I've heard of this, but never actually seen an example. Is there anyway you could right a sample intro so I can see it in action? Thanks for the suggestion.

Sure! I am going to use the intro I used for my Progressive Era DBQ (what a coincidence, lol) that I had to write in class a couple of weeks ago. Here it is (although I put 2 hook sentences): "Between 1900 and 1920, the Progressive Era was a time of many changes within the United States. It was an era in which reforms were really popular. The eruption of the Progressive Era did bring in new opportunities for the United States, such as the rise of being a world power (X). However, during this era, women finally got the right to vote, reforms helped improve many things, such as the meat industry and the try to eliminate child labor, and the newly direct election of US senators helped brought in new things during the Progressive Era (A, B, and C). Therefore, the effectiveness of Progressive Era reformers brought up reforms at a national level (Y)." I got a 95 on this paper, but it's mainly because I always screw up somehow on the my body paragraphs, but in my opinion, I think this intro sucked, because I always think negative about my work. Anyways, hope you liked the example and you are welcome for the suggestion. It actually does help for me.

6:07 seems very important. I am bad at doing this correctly. I have my semester final tomorrow and I am really bad at analyzing the documents and figuring out what they mean.

You should make a new one of these because of the redesigned DBQ essay. I am pretty sure you need to use all the documents now

My teacher has use to "who" "what" and "why" for analyzing documents during the 15 minutes. I think that's more clear than what you suggested.

I read a few DBQ essays on the college board website and I was wondering if there were specific characteristics of well written DBQ essays that received above a 5. For example, paragraph and page length, reference to the documents, length of conclusion, etc.

on length my teacher Mr. Zelenak taught us the miniskirt rule. Short enough to draw attention but long enough to keep you interested... kind of weird, but it makes sense,

Can you cite a document more than once, not counting the second citing towards your number of documents used, but what if a document is relevant more than once?

One question sir, what is the least number of documents you can include?

I would shoot to incorporate around half. In most instances, that's about 5. I wouldn't incorporate the documents just to incorporate them. Just make sure they relate to your thesis. Good luck!
