Joseph is one of the leading watercolour painters of today, with his atmospheric paintings of rural life and strong urban scenes. Here he selects a range of subjects to illustrate working life. Painting in and around Melbourne, he captures the noise and heat of a road gang at work on the street, grape pickers in a vineyard, figures working on a yacht in the dockyard and market stall holders on a busy morning. Working in his studio, he gives a practical demonstration of how to capture movement in figures including a chef at work.

The thing I love about this kind of art and watercolors in particular is that because they are suggested not literal it interacts with the viewer to complete the picture. It creates a relationship with the viewer. Joshep is one of my favorite!

I have struggled with watercolour for nearly 30 years and never had a real successful painting.This guy paints like it is his second nature. I have never seen such exquisite work.I am at a loss for words. Such genius.

This is my best one .he is top of the world and my self try to do as he does . Work with pekel gives me anxious to draw watercol harder .watching this in my life is treasured gift to my soul .thanks

Oh my!! He is an amazing watercolor artist! Love his style. I also show people Im street sketching after I'm done, and they're so happy...but just imagining showing them a masterpiece like he does :)

Joe surfer in our lifetime, yes. definitely in the top few in the world ever too. check out john singer sargent and anders zorn, among others. just mindblowing

Great painting! Love the guy in the painting at 1:03 looking at the vegetables, he looks so real. Just say "that's what it wanted" and relax. I'll remember that:)))
