Absolutely Beautiful! This is In Mahur Dastgah or Mode which is the music of the western Iranic People namely Luerstan and Kurdistan region. The Saks who migrated from this region to Western Europe and Ukrain in particular took this tradition with them. This Mode also exists in Indian Ragga with a different name! it sounds also like Irish Music if you listen carefully! Beautiful Music Thank You Sir!

That is amazing. I play the viola and I always thought the basses had boring and monotonous music. Apparently not. This is a beautiful piece that raises the expectations of ever bass player as well as the admiration.

Breathtaking. My two brothers and niece are professional classical double bass players. I never heard this kind of music on a bass. No words. Wonderful. Thank God for Koussevitsky, Bottesini and all the rest, but thank God for you too!

This guy, I have no words. I don't think there is a bass player anywhere in the US where I live as good as him. Not even Edgar Meyer is a match for him. I have to go to Europe where the true bass masters are.

It' alwais a celebration for my ears. Every time. I believe that music is made of sensations, first than other things. Neither thecnique tips or genre classifications, beyond the number of strings and the speed of fingers. I'm very afraid for who can't get any sensations from this music, because i felt a lot of sensations and emotions and they are wonderful, wish they could feel the same. Like every time i listened to it in the last years.

@stfrutiger6 I'm a bassist myself man. I mainly gig on electric and upright playing jazz, but do some orchestral work too. I'm not trying to restrict anything but there are two big things about the bass: a) It is physically difficult to play. With only a single tone range without shifting, and requiring 8 times as much pressure as a cello to press down a string, there's no arguement that it's hard. That's why i'm so happy when I see people like Edgar Meyer doing what he does.

Stunning! Rabbath his teacher played the Paris opera so it is possible to master both orchestral style and this style. But to get to the ultimate level in either most people would need to specialize. Also, one needs several basses. The instrument here with a high 'c' string is set up for this type of playing and would probably not do well with orchestra. Bow is different also! Light, quick and facile. IMHO Symphony bow needs to be heavier in most cases.

Believe me, he can play what he wants on the bass, because he is really talented. In music, money isn't important if you live your life as you wanted to live it. Poorly, there's people like you who wants only money and recognition to feel happy. He just play his music freely. Can you create some awesome music and trust in it, your creation, or do you want to play just what a director require to you?

I've already known all kinds of harmonics that you cannot even dream about since the time you were vitamine in an apple on a tree! I don't even think that you've ever heard any real doublebass sound. just a baloon! not even sound like d.bass. He can just play at a circus with his teacher. About his bowing technique: My german bow makes it much more better.
@1MRBASSMAN12 жыл бұрын
It's for frustrated people who wished they played the cello, viola or violin. Furthermore it takes a lot of strength to play tough orchestra parts in the lower register. Pieces by Rabbath never show up on audition lists. Anybody can meander in the high register playing patterns that lie well under the fingers. Try the Shostakovich 11th Symphony. None of these Rabbath clones can come close to handling it.
@1MRBASSMAN12 жыл бұрын
Playing for money is merely a sign that a large portion of the population wants to hear what you are doing. The only people listening to Aquajan are some fellow bassists. People want to hear Mahler, Shostakovich, Beethoven etc. not the self-indulgent meanderings of a Rabbath or a Rabbath clone.
@1MRBASSMAN12 жыл бұрын
Playing Malher and Shostakovich is playing for art. Playing the self-indulgent meanderings of a Rabbath, or improvising on patterns that lie easily under the fingers is not art, it's narcissistic.
