Join me on my first Spring metal detecting trip of 2015. I find a huge dead buck deer, snakehead fish, snake, beaver community and even a Civil War winter camp! I also find and eat some wild teaberries that for some reason tasted like venison...lol.

Detecting definitely isn't all about the finds as there is often so much other cool stuff to find out there. It always amazes me how many other channels focus on finds, finds, (often faked) finds and not the enjoyment of being outdoors. A poor day detecting will always be better than a good day at work. Nice one, man. GL&HH

I always enjoy your videos! No snake is poisonous because poisons are ingested (eaten or drank) Snakes can be venomous or nonvenomous. Venom is injected into a puncture wound made by their fangs. People and animals become envenomated when venom either enters the prey's body through hollow fangs or run down a groove on the outside of a fang.

Great video. I've been out hunting the past year or so on an old 1860's and early1870's Royal Engineers camp. Talked to an old timer who used to hunt there, and he told me in addition to the bullets I find, I should keep a look out for cannon balls too. Had no idea they had cannons at the site, but some deeper research indicates they had several types there. Very cool. It was a very well used artillery range with a variety of bullets in the ground, and in hunks of wood from the trees that stood back then, and I've finally found the location from where they were firing in the bramble which has taken over. Lots of bullets, casings, melted lead, buttons, and other goodies. Your videos have been a huge help in driving me to keep pushing forward on site despite its obstacles. Thanks Beau. Shane

Hi Beau. I've been working my way through your videos and have loved every one of them. What I can't understand is that there seems to be a bunch of people going from movie to movie purposely disliking them. No love in their lives or something, I don't know, it's a bit sad really. I just feel like apologizing for them when you're dong so much good work.

Hey Beau, The fish-kill seems unusual, to me. Can you tell me if there was anything that made you suspect cold weather, and not suspect water quality. I feel as though there might have been a recent contamination of some sort. As for the Snakehead.....use caution.....I saw one in a movie once, and it was about the size of a '57 Chevy. And it could fly! Great video! Thank You.

Common Garter Snake. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Garter_Snake Venomous or non-venomous is the correct term. Poisonous is used by many incorrectly and means it will kill you if you eat it. That river must have flooded and those fish became stranded. Go down there after the next strong rain and get some fresh fish. LOL

I'm come and watch for the history, but stay for the bonus nature bits, really love it,here in the UK we don't have such a wide verity of animals so it's cool for me when I get to see the beaver dams and (well we do have animals of course but it's always nice to see other parts of the worlds woods and nature ) keep up the good work buddy

I have a small horse farm with a badger den on our land and a happy little family of 2 live in it,and I've seen them of a night and it's fantastic, they are nocturnal so seldom seen and most of the British public forget we even have them here, but before that I had only caught a glimpse 2 previous times near the coast once and in the countryside another time ,and that's all in a time frame of say 20 years (I'm 29 now) Nature is fantastic!!

My biologist husband says that's a member of the garter snake family, harmless; gee, if all snakes were poisonous (as I read below), he and his rommate would never have finished college; they, both biologists, used to keep this kind (and others - all harmless) in their room...they loved it and the snakes didn't seem to mind either, as long as they got fed once in a while...thanks for all the great posts!

We had two more inches of spring up here today Beau. Hopefully it's gonna be warmer from here on in. That's why I never hunted with a bow when I did hunt. I could never trust myself to make a single shot kill. I always worried that the deer would wander off wounded and suffer for days.
