Beau, I love your videos. It reminds me of when I was younger. I now have some physical issues that seemingly control my days and activities. So, on those days, I live a day watching you and others. I have you take me to the river instead. Well, at least I join you on the adventure on video. Beau. you are the original, the best! Thanks!

We have the money but the taste is so much better when home canned, my wife still has a good time canning and she's proud of the items that turn out so wonderful. We also make concord grape jelly, our whole neighborhood loves Christmas time, we give homemade bread and jelly away.

My grandparents have over a hundred mason jars in our old barn. And they used to keep food in there when they were poor. They used to be poor and my grandpa had to hunt for food even when season wasn't around. Back before I was born.

Cardui was a 38-proof patent medicine made from the late 19th century through the twentieth by the Chattanooga Medicine Company, of Chattanooga, Tennessee (U.S.A.). The box containing the bottle appears below. The museum also has the full bottle.

Cool old canning jar, my grandparant taught me to can for just a way to save more from the garden and to have good food without other junk in it. Living in MN it is really nice to be able to eat greens or jellies from things grown in the Summer when it's -20 outside during Winter.

FYI for all the folks: "In 1879 Chattanooga businessman Zeboim Cartter Patten and a group of friends established the Chattanooga Medicine Company. Its first two products, Black-Draught and Wine of Cardui." "Wine of Cardui was a uterine sedative, whose name derived from Carduus benedictus, a synonym for botanical Cnicus benedictus. According to tradition, Wine of Cardui originated among the Cherokee Indians."During World War II the company became the largest producer of K-rations and a major supplier of ammonia.

How I envy you being able to to do this sort of thing in relative safety and security. In South Africa you would be mobbed and robbed in super quick time. I know, nearly happened once on the Tugela Heights battlefields in Natal detecting around an old campsite. A few young kids appeared out of the bush, followed by some older ones DEMANDING money! Threw a bunch of coins into the the bush to distract them, and wheelspinned out of there!

Hey AquaChigger. Just wanted to say I greatly enjoy your videos. You've made me interested in metal detecting here in Omaha, NE but I don't know what I would find here. No civil war here. Maybe old coins or relics from the skirmishes with Native Americans but I don't even know where to start. Anyhow, keep doing what you are doing! I watch every video!

I saw a guy on another channel take some of that slime and smelt a tiny bead of iron from it using primitive techniques. It was quite fascinating to watch him dig out a bunch clay and turn it into a foundry and pots then put a bunch of the slime into a pot and finally end up with a tiny bead of iron.
