Thank you mate for the video. Not a dramatic difference before and after-which is what we dont want, but a noticeable positive difference is evident. I watched with trepidation as you disbursed the mix into the displays! I use Fiji mud in my sumps, which is more of a substrate than a mud. I may have to give what you used a go. Cheers mate-

my filter socks filled quickly. I noticed the water was crystal clear the next day and all corals looked to be enjoying life more - but really hard to say for sure. Works a charm in making my nems reproduce though :)

you have two spectacular systems! Love the slow pan, it gives us a good chance to see the corals/livestock. I thought you were going to put it in a container and add it to your sump like the other mud products on the market. I expect substances that fine to hang up on surfaces esp the glass. Unless you cleaned your glass before filming the next morning it seemed more clear to me.

This is great. Actually there is a newish article on R2R about not quarantining and he recommends adding mud regularly - even mud from the backyard if you can't get it from the ocean. So this is interesting ;) I'm still learning towards Miracle Mud (because of who swears by it) or Tropic Marin's (because they are known for quality) - can't wait to see your results over time - thanks mate ;)
@sunnygoold94495 жыл бұрын
Also the more I think about seeing that cloud in the tank the more I think this must happen to corals all the time so it's probably a good thing to do it every couple of weeks. I wonder how it accumulates and if it makes the sand look dirty. I'm more thinking it's something to consider - seems like it would be beneficial so for me it comes down to how beneficial for the price vs other things ;) The tank looks amazing btw. I love the big green (Dallas) stag - such an amazing piece ;)
@ParkersReef5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments Sunny! Yeah I think it certainly has it's place in the aquarium. I am often concerned about how sterile we keep our tanks, coral reefs require such a biodiversity that we just don't supply in a glass box. Hence why I am a big advocate of natural salt water and even things like calcium reactors. They all contribute various little micro elements and life that we don't monitor via our hobby test kits.

Hey Sam....... firstly best info on marine stuff by far. Love your work!!..... second... after watching this I saw some mud in my LFS and have given it a go just as you did here. I got a 290L AquaOne Marine Scape tank. So put the 3x scoops of 10ml in .....wow absolute block out. Then after 15min. Still block out. I could see my corals fully opening up. Loving this stuff. I am going to persist and only put 2x 10ml scoops as this stuff is super strong. As I only have a handful of corals. I am also going to do a serve each 2nd week. Not weekly this is for the same reason. Keep the vids coming legend..... I am Melbourne based and visiting the places you go and really enjoy learning - the info is great. Thank you

@ParkersReef5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Gabriel. I tested phosphate before and after (should have mentioned in the video actually!) and strangely, the phosphate did actually go down a little. Wen't from 0.08ppm to 0.05ppm the next day. Could be the GFO just working a bit more that day or it could be that the mud did actually have some sort of flocculant capacity? Either way, phosphate stayed low :)

@Mindboggle1002 жыл бұрын
Sam, in simple terms do you think the Life source mud, would help with a new build with just dry rock? Do you think the mud, is a way to simulate an ecosystem by providing a boost? I ask this, as Aquaforest seem to sell it as food source for "micro organisms". I'm wondering what the mud is likely to contain and introduce into a new essentially sterile tank? Thanks, the ice coffee looked good!
@ParkersReef2 жыл бұрын
Hey mindboggle, yes, absolutely! I think all the diverse bacteria’s and micro organisms in this product are absolutely ideal for giving some life to a sterile tank
