Naija is a lonely sea creature who has called a small stretch of water her home for as long as she can remember.But a strange encounter awakens her from her life, which has seemed like a dream. Suddenly, emotions she has never felt before are released, and she cannot bear to stay. She realizes that there is a world out there she has never known, and she longs to discover new waters.
By singing songs, Naija can weave her unique gift - the Verse - to change the world around her. With each song she learns comes new abilities that will help her reach new areas, combat ferocious sea creatures, and ultimately discover the truth about herself. Along the way, she'll make time to cook food, ride seahorses, and perhaps even fall in love!

Still in 2019 this game means so much to my heart i grew up playing it and was scared of things I was most likely supposed to be scared of as Naija. I felt all the emotions replaying it in 2019. The nostalgia this game gave me was insane. Nothing will ever replace this game at all. I’m just praying that we may get an Aquaria 2 in 2019.

unfortunately the creator died (Alec), and the co-creator (Derek Yu), doesn't seem to care much about the game (focus on his projects only), in fact we don't even know if he has authorization to make an Aquaria 2, because of copyright?

This game is worth playing for the soundtrack alone, it still gives me chills. Here's hoping that by selling more copies on GOG we finally get an Aquaria 2, there's so much more to tell about this world...

This is the game that got me into gaming. I still love it to this day, and I really wish it got wider recognition. It makes me so sad that this story will never be complete.

This game should be considered one of the top 10 most influential indie games. I remember when this came out, nobody had ever seen anything like this in terms of scope and production quality. It really showed us what indie games COULD be. Cave Story started the indie craze (well, the modern one, at least) and I say Aquaria brought it full speed.

This game might not seem that special , but for me it means entire world. Grew up playing this game and still sometimes go back to it. Nostalgia is the true power. An unaccesible dream of the part 2 is a dream that will , probably , never come true still somehow warms my heart. I wish we all had more time...

A fantastic game, great story, atmosphere, soundtrack, combat, everything is amazing. This game is one hell of a hidden gem and a worthy pick up for anyone who plays video games

Omg this was my childhood!!!! I just wanted to say that you guys really did beautiful and amazing work that had had a huge impact on me and my art! I could endlessly swim through the beautiful environments, and also endlessly rant about how much I love this game!

This game holds up so incredibly well. The soundtrack alone is timeless. Still, the best "Underwater" Metroidvania.

Why so many of these smaller games have the same stiff character animation? Like Flash games from a decade ago.

@@UndyingNephalimAnd this is also a living proof that as long as you know how to set the art direction and music for your game, graphic will follow along. Despite the stiffness, Aquaria still manage to capture beauty for more than 10 years.
