Fifteen Whiskies summarised and shared. !! One man's opinion !! See below for links to other informed opinions on some of the whiskies here.
For a chance to win a sample set of 6 whiskies featured in this video, all you need to do is a) be in a country where I can legally ship samples to you, and be of legal age for consumption of alcohol. b) be a subscriber of the channel and leave a comment below with the words "HEELS PLEASE!" Roy, Definitely enjoyed this format and will check out the earlier ones. While I would disagree a bit on the Buffalo Trace, I find the balance and roundness very enjoyable and at 45% here in the US. Just finishing my first Old Pulteney 12 and enjoyed, kindalike a scotch for bourbon fans. Mine are (already bought a second) at 43% ABV, maybe since in the States? I'm always surprised to see how much Indian whisky is. I enjoy Japanese whisky but over priced to me. HEELS PLEASE! Cheers!

Another hit, great video! I personally find the style of Nikka from the barrel to be similar to Irish, it’s so clean and fruity!

I actually have a unopened Nikka from the Barrel that I have been holding just because of how Japanese whiskey is going to fluctuate so much in the future simply due to the supply/demand issues. I have only sampled a few Japanese whiskies but I've always felt they seem close to Bourbons or Irish for me in many cases, and since Red Breast 12 is my favorite whiskey over all right now I am very happy to explore more Japanese options in the future. I was also happy to see Makers Mark in the lineup as that was one of the earliest Bourbons I actually started to try in mixed drinks, it's a bit sweet for my tastes but it can make an amazing Maple Sweet Tea which is popular in the south. Very simple to make, small amount of pure maple syrup, Makers Mark and your preferred style of black iced tea with a hint of lemon to taste. I now have a specialty bottle of Makers Mark in my collection simply in thanks to it being one of my baby steps towards being a whiskey collector.

I think you and I and our associates are the only people in the U.K to taste that Lot 40. Quig gave me the same bottle. It's delicious, as you say, but pretty impossible to drink outside Canada. I picked up a bottle of the Maker's Mark in Spain recently for $23 euros. I used to drink it when I was a student and had forgotten that it's a decent dram. Springbank 10 is just right. The Glencadam 15 is back Roy and it's available everywhere and back on their website. Old Pulteney 12 - meh (abv). Agree about the Nikka - it's okay but too expensive. I like Amrut Fusion and the other Amruts are worth a go - try the Peated. That Wolfburn is just too young. I had a bottle of the EC12BP and that 69.7 which is epic bourbon. Stagg Jr and Blantons SBBP are up there with it too. I love Springbank but the Local Barley allocation in the U.K is insulting and Springbank are beginning to take the piss. That's my 10 cents. Another excellent recycled review & tantalizing drone(?) footage at the end! Looking forward to any content coming from the big Dummies visit/whisky folk meet up. Crazy jealous of those lucky enough to go as it definitely has the feel of a very special special event! I think I remember hearing that samples can make it over to the US whereas full bottles can’t, so heels please! 😄🥃

Can't believe the Mrs. Sat all the way through the review, not only that she even ask what I'd be buying next. Love it. Best one yet Aqvavitea, love springbank and will be adding more to the cupboard. Still not opened my Glencadam 15 though. I was hoping for the Deanston palo cortado review? Please try Buffalo Trace should you get a chance to try it as we get it here in North America....45%. The idea of Buffalo Trace at 40% is unfortunate...it is awesome at 45%.

It used to be 45% in the U.K before Buffalo Trace took the advice of some bellend cocktail staff and lowered it to 40% rendering it pointless. I actually think 45% is too low for it. At 45% it's decent day to day stuff but there's plenty of competition.

Lot 40 cask strength is fantastic. I didn't try the 12 year old but i did get the 11 year old from 2018. It was hard to get in Ontario Canada.

Made a comment on a Ralfy video last week saying I've noticed I'm going off peat the last year or so. It's interesting how we go through stages that we ourselves can't always explain. It's as though I'm "fed up" with expressions that can't "make up their minds" and want clearly defined ones instead. I fully admit I can't exactly explain it myself. In any case, as part of that I've noticed I'm less drawn towards Springbank as well. I reckon by next year it'll be just the opposite! These things always change. On a side note I wanted to add that being from the U.K and still remembering old versions of HP I'd score modern ones in the lower sixties (i.e, very low scores!) but I'm well aware that even the modern ones that we get here are very different to the ones the U.S gets (they get higher ABV) and from what I understand (though never tried it) BT is significantly better in America.

Love love love these videos Roy, so informative and engaging. Massive kudos for all,you do. One wee tiny unimportant critique... comparing the comments and the marks I get the feeling you’re a bit generous with the scoring at the bottom end. C’mon , use the full scale man!! An average whisky should get 5 out of 10 IMHO. But thanks for the whisky inspiration. And, urm, heels please ;-)

Found the old version of OP12 on clearance for under $30 here in the states. Picked up a couple of bottles.A little sad about it falling to 40%, will probably be a little while until I buy it again if its listed at it's old price. Keep up the great work!

High quality content as always... Smiled when you compared the nikka ftb to a bourbon, because i always said this one is somewhere between a speysider and a bourbon. Those vanillas open up so well with a bit of water. A bit of sherry influence as well and even a tiny bit of smoke. HEELS PLEASE! :) that lot 40 sounds damn interesting

I find a number of Irish whiskies make sense at 40-43%. I can only imagine it has to do with how generally light and floral it is as a style; the reduced ABV doesn’t accentuate a reduction in heavier, bolder flavors like it does in American/Scottish/Japanese whiskies.
