Conall Ó Máirtín travels to the island and coastal Gaeltacht regions of County Donegal. In programme three Conall takes to the water and visits Inishbofin, before heading off to Donegal's famous kingdom - Tory Island.

I was saddened to hear the King of Tory had passed. GOD bless his family. I had sent a Tau pendant to him for his wife years ago from America I pray he got it.

Be great if the bbc would do a show on in the 1970 s the local priest found out about a plan between the government and Catholic Church to depopulate the Tory . No party would involved to help until Ian Paisley found and got involved, he took the case to the European Parliament and saved the island. How sad that a gealic speaking island in Donegal had to saved by a free Presbyterian minister from the Catholic Church they pray to 😢

Conall Ó Máirtín why did you not tell me you were going on this journey, I would have stopped my very important work immediately of building the future space rocks to Pluto and would have gone on this journey with you, I would have repaired the slow puncher on the rear wheel of my bicycle< would have brought my own tent and food, I would have been no trouble to you, I would have made breakfast and cooked an evening dinner, Please tell me Conall Ó Máirtín why did you not bring me on this journey through parts of Donegall.

Curious, how proficient is Conall's Irish? His pronunciation is highly anglicised but judging by the subtitles he does advanced narration.

It's lovely to hear true native Irish speakers. They speak with a natural fluency. I have no doubt that Conall is proficient in the language but he is mainly narrating from a script. Since this is a BBC documentary, I suspect he rehearsed many of his questions and conversations too.

@@Islandicus What initially surprised me is how even these traditional Gaeilgeoirí may use the English R; neither the thick nor slender R is like that. Like the king of Thoraí says "Rí" just like "Ray" in Irish English. Then again, that happened to the Pennsylvania German language too.
