We received a request to talk about the gas system and buffer of the AR15. Those two parts make up a lot of the functionality of the rifle so we talk about the basics in this video. We may go in to more detail in a future video, if that interests you please let us know!

@@newdefsys So is adding a red-dot, that doesn't mean it fits his application, especially if he's shooting long range. I'd rather have the right part than have an unneeded band-aid.
@deplorable-0ne
@deplorable-0ne 4 жыл бұрын
@@newdefsys When you offered it as a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. I said it was a band-aid. Your last question is what you did. 3ron made a comment that needed no solution and you tried offering one with a wild solution from left field. What in his comment made you think he needed a heavier buffer. Just because most AR's are over gassed doesn't support your reply. It's our job as humans to educate and inform not assume or make determinations with incomplete data resulting in misinformation spread on the internet.

@@deplorable-0ne You are absolutely correct. 3ron did not ask for any help, did not say that he had any problems, and just commented the video with a simple observation... Some people seem to live to show how smart they are, and to find a victim to save... they can't seem to help themselves - they have to blurt out a half-ass solution before they even finish reading the comment.

To be accurate you'd also need gas port sizes, primarily suppressed vs unsuppressed, environments, full pressure 5.56 vs low quality .223 etc. If you want the optimum buffer anyway. You can get away with a buffer that's a little light or a little heavy depending on your maintenance cycle and if you plan to shoot full auto.

That isn't to say that your rifle won't run reliably if something is a bit off but it may beat itself to death but it won't be as reliable as it could be

1st time viewer - new and instant subscriber. You have a great presentation style, and the information is not only first rate, but easy to understand and easy to digest. I have built a few AR-15s now, and most of this I didn't know. I just took quality off the shelf parts and I matched them up the same way that I would build a race car, which I do understand... I focused on buying quality parts, and I matched the buffer, gas tube, and stock extension to the barrel size. I also usually use an adjustable gas block so that it can be adjusted to the specific gun and the chosen ammo. It always worked out well, but I will definitely be looking for the follow up videos to this one. Thank you. The information that you provided today is as hard as hens teeth to find in one place, much less in a fascinating video like you have provided here today.

All my rifles are mid length 16”s. I only buy the carbine buffer kits because that is what I was told to pair it with. Some guys get a little OCD and they’ll tune the weight type to their liking but for a rookie like me I want reliability since I use all kinds of practice ammo, the cheaper the most likely picked by me.

Just picked up a spikes tactical t-2 buffer to go along with a flatwire spring. Does that combo work well together? Also, does a heavier buffer work better on a carbine gas system than a mid length? I went with a t-2 which I believe is a 4oz weight. I’m hoping I didn’t go too heavy.

@@GunsandTactics take a look at the channel precision machine shed they offer extensions 1 thousand oversize and some others I don't remember they offer half thousand over also for tight fit to the upper I was wondering if the average barrel had the extension machined with the barrel instead of being threaded
@GunsandTactics
@GunsandTactics 5 жыл бұрын
Torqueing on a barrel extension and aligning it with the port is something that is not available for most, if you want the tight friction fit easiest would be to use a Bravo Co upper. They spec out the barrel ext mouth tight and requires thermal fitting.
