Mojave Kid++++// is an eleven year old, 16 hand Arabian stallion by Sundance Kid V out of the beautiful Sanadik El Shaklan daughter, Calika V. He is a multi-national champion in Dressage and Sport Horse Show Hack, with a total of 20 national titles and 40 regional titles. He holds the Legion of Masters, the Arabian breed's highest performance achievement award and was SHN Payback Super Stallion (high point stallion) at the 2011 US Sport Horse Nationals. He has been USEF Champion Horse of the Year twice, in 2010 for Arabian Dressage First Level and in 2011 for Arabian Dressage Second Level. Jave is currently competing in open and Arabian shows at 2nd Level and schooling 3rd, which he will debut later this spring. He stands at stud at Holly Tree Farm in Salkum, WA. I loved th at he showed his animation, then knew when the show was over and walked next to his handler, easy to catch. That's a good disposition to pass on.

I live in Scottsdale, AZ, and go to the Arabian Horse Show every year. My grand daughter has an Arabian, and also works the show. It is amazing !!!!!

How lovely to see a good profile. Recently some (terrible) breeders produce horses with faces so dished they have breathing problems, and it's ugly. This horse is MAGNIFICENT!!!

I personally like the Saddlebred due to their natraully high step and their high tail identical to the Arabians. Yes every breed dates back to the Arabian as they were one of the first breeds.

He sure is one of the prettiest Arabian horses I've ever seen. I usually don't really like them, due to some of the strange appearances (for my idea) (like a very slim posture, body and overall face). To each their own ^^; I just love it how he's moving around and just knows he's fabulous.

Love ... love ... love ... that this Arabian stallion is shown 'at liberty' . I'm new to the unusual universe of in-hand showing of Arab stallions and have been horrified at the whip-with-plastic-bag attached waving, halter jerking and generally intrusive interventions employed by their handlers to get them to move - typically in a state of hyper alertness. I was appalled until I saw this 'liberty' class. Why are they not all shown like this ? The handler is able to elicit such presence and movement without all of the bullshit. I am talking about the Paris Horse Show ... not some backyard rodeo BTW.

I also hate the whips and plastic bags. I don't need them anyway. My arabian stallion is hyperallert already and I certainly don't want to increase this. The great thing is I can have him at my side acting like a perfectly quiet sport horse with nothing more than a light tap on his leadrope with my finger tip. He's quite the show off at liberty since he likes to be the center of attention.

Yes, the bunny hop is cute but is that the kind of movement you want to ride? Personally I think it would grow tiresome in a very short time. I much prefer the movement of my own stallion who looks much the same but absolutely floats even at a fast trot.

This isn’t really liberty it’s more like halter but liberty is judged on how well the horse obeyed and showed off my mare does this and they are told commands and they show off while running around liberty classes aren’t real liberty

I don't know what he's trained to do, but I'm sure he does more than just liberty. He's 11, so I'm sure he does other things.

This is such a beautiful horse but I was wondering something. Is he a modern arabian breed or american arabian or something like that? He just seems a lot bigger and longer than what I thought was standard for arabians and he had a more rounded, less flat croup than I thought too. Just asking for educational purposes, not trying to assert my opinion or anything...

You are right, Mohave Kid is different than other arabians you may have seen. Sheila Varian of Varian Arabians was the breeder of his sire and dam. She insists all of her stock be usable, trainable, rideable and beautiful. A Varian bred horse tends to be more athletic and sometimes taller too than other modern arabs, which tend to be mostly good to look at. This stallion is typical of her outstanding work and has the quiet, intelligent mind and elastic movement she strives for. Notice how easy he is to catch and control...typical Varian. She does great work.

SquirrlySwirly There is no American arabian. There is only 3 category: 1- Desert breed the original of all Arabians horses. 2- Straight Egyptian which is little smaller to Desert breed. 3- Polish Arabians which is less pure but stronger body than first and second. All other Arabians are under this categories. All Arabians are rideable, just some are smarter and hot blooded and need a true horseman, same goes to thorough breed and other hot blooded breed.

I had always been taught that all Arabians that are registered are "pure", but they may not qualify as Asil as per breeding guidelines from the desert for Egyptian Arabians.

That's what liberty is. The handlers keep the horse moving. Then they have 2 minutes to catch him, or he is disqualified. They can really get worked up at liberty. My wife shows her mini horses in this class also. Sometimes they are hard to catch.
