Excellent explanation. I don't know why other videos do not explain the meaning behind the names of the vowels. This explanation makes it so much easier to remember.

My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

You just made me understand the pronunciation way better , I thought the long vowel ya was more like "i" in Spanish and the long vowel waw was a u as in Spanish, but no is like o and oo and i as in pin . شُكراً. No wonder people write like shokrun , I thought it was more like shookrun oo= the u in Spanish as in boot

Great lesson, thank you. I have one little thing though. Is there any reason for using a straight line instead of two dots? In my opinion it could be confused with fatha, the diacritic. For example when you write fatha in arabic, the last letter could be both HA with diacritic or THA with two dots, which happen to be connected into straight line. I know the angle is a bit different, but still. I hope you see my point. And you're amazing teacher anyway!

when do you add these marks? do you write all the letters first, then the marks? right after you write a separated letter? only after you complete a whole word? after you write each syllable? 1:56 writing samples it seems that you write the letter marks each time you lift the pen, then you go back after the whole word is done and add the diacriticals, emphasis marks, etc: is that right?

I am a little confused, In another lesson you said the waaw (و) forced the consonant to make a similar diacritical sound (ضمةء) or long vowel ‘thoo’. If the diacritical marks are missing, how can you tell the difference between thaob and thoob ثوب Sorry, I’m an eager but new leaner...brilliant lessons, so perfect for beginners.
@ahmedfathallah23055 жыл бұрын
Malcolm Barrett you should write diacritical marks untill you learn the word (first times) when u get used to it and u learn it you can write it without short vowels (arabs know the word already but for foreigners or new word we write it with short vowels until they assimilate it)😉

Do you mean that sukoon silences the vowel, not the consonant?
@vincentproud65894 жыл бұрын
11:43 Okay, so now I'm confused, I thought that was the sound those letters made in a word normally... Like the better "Ba" would always just make the "b" sound when in a word...
@bdiaz41743 жыл бұрын
have you figured it out yet? with sakoon, it lacks a short or long vowel after the letter. So, not Ba or BAA.. but just a quick "b' sound.
@aqimjulayhi87985 жыл бұрын
I used to study Arabic back in school and we were taught with the diacritics. I honestly don't know how to read Arabic without the diacritics.
@medmedin45415 жыл бұрын
"Hw r yu ?" did you read the the question I wrote correctly ? Arabic is like this without voyels, you need practice and to know and read more words.

:شوكران علي الدرس :) و عندي سؤال Do the diacritical marks always make the same sounds? For example, sometimes to me the fat7ah sounds more like ah, sometimes like ä, the dammeh sometimes more like o sometimes more like u, and the kasrah sometimes more like ih, sometimes like eh. Does this depend on the word, the letter it is connected with, the speaker, and/or am I just hearing differences that don't exist? !شوكران
@tariqhaddad72988 жыл бұрын
شكرا not شوكران short vowels

she is using something called riq3ah(رقعة) this is the fast form of writing in arabic as opposed to naskh(نسخ)if you want to compare then it would be the cursive as opposed to print script. She is an Arab so with time- sometime through elementary school cursive( joining the letters together is the rule) she probably didnt even realise that she was joining the dots, but its the same.
