A whole sentence in Moroccan sounds like a single word, we can make anything of it. 😂 If they speak really really slow we understand around 70-80% but only if they're really annunciating the words

I suggest you learning Arabic from its origins (🇸🇦) as it's the purist form of Arabic, all of the other dialects are sub Arabic.

Shoe is sbat in Moroccan Arabic too. Sberdilla is used to refer to sneakers. And spoon is ma3ilqa in Moroccan Arabic. Ma3shka is I think a more regional expression. I wonder from what region in Morocco this Mroccan dude is from. 🤔

Actually qundra taken from kurdish which has a bad meaning 😅 used for a type shoe thats used by ottoman soldiers and they were cruel against the people so they named the shoe according to how they used it 😅

It is Arabic from UAE and The most spoken language on Dubai and the UAE is actually Urdu and a lot of Hindi and Bengali is spoken too. This is why their Arabic is heavily influenced by the South Asian languages.

@fahadkhatir2258 I think Kuwaitis, Bahraini Qatari and Eastern province of Saudi Arabia say Jutti too. Don't forget these parts of the Arab worlds have long trade history with India, that's why I guess.

In my studies over the last 3 years I've come to the conclusion that Syrian Arabic and Jordanian Arabic are the closest to classical Arabic, but in terms of sentence structure, Iraqi is closest

This reminds me of how Noam Chomsky describes the idea of 'National Languages' developing in Europe less than 200 years ago. Before then, someone in France could be virtually unintelligible to people even just the next village over, due to the fact that their language had developed such a radically different accent and unique words. These matters were also far less influenced by national borders. It was not until Europeans started all committing to the same widespread and finite education concept of supposedly 'speaking and writing correctly in our language' that they all ended up understanding each other in a national sense. This has resulted in a country like Switzerland, where there are 4 'national languages', 3 of which are the national languages of neighboring nations (German, French, Italian), and the only one that is not (Romansh) is spoken by around 60,000 people, is considered 'endangered', and has at least 5 dialects anyway... Now English in particular is so widespread through the help of global media that almost everyone who speaks it, regardless of their accent, is intelligible to one another... to the point where a group of 'Arabic speakers' make fun of their ALMOST completely different languages by initially referring to what they are talking about in English. Overall I regard this as neither a good thing nor a bad thing, as languages themselves are nothing more than 'artistic tools'. It makes as much sense to prefer or hate a language as it does to hate a saxophone. The saxophone only becomes involved in a moral dilemma if you are doing stuff like using it to torture someone by keeping them awake or bashing them over the head with it... In both cases, that is a waste of a beautiful saxophone. It also makes no sense to complain that so many people start listening to music that is made with electric guitars, i.e. using English, nor would it necessarily be a problem if English LOST popularity, as the electric guitar somewhat has...

While that might be true for most languages, the same can't be said for Arabic, because no matter how much the dialects differ, all arabs speak some Fus-ha so we can adjust our accents to be more intelligible for each other.

I am not claiming to have any qualification to discuss linguistics with authority, but a few minutes of research have taught me that Fus-ha developed in the last few hundred years and is referred to by linguists in English as 'Modern Standard Arabic'... The question I now have is whether speaking your 'own' language and Fus-ha amounts to being bilingual, because something I learned the other day is that the majority of humans speak at least 2 languages...

@@firstnamelastname9179 even before "fus-ha" existed, there was always a form of lingua franca that all arabs used. And it doesn't count as being bilingual because dialects and fus-ha are used simultaneously but with different roles, ie fus-ha is used in pretty much all literature meanwhile dialects are used in everyday speech. Also check out the video about arabic on langfocus channel, i think you might like it.

In Sudan we say Jisam for shoes, Dolab for closet, mala’aga for spoon (like in Morocco), and when your mother is extremely mad she may say, ha dogak daga!!!
