Definitely a step down. Witch King and Lurtz were awesome but this Aragorn is disappointing. I see why the Weta reps spent so much time introducing Lurtz and then just skimmed through FoF Aragorn’s introduction in the release clip now lmao. Thank you for the review Ryan.

yeah it's unfortunate... perhaps they were in a rush when it comes to painting. Hopefully Gimli and Saruman will be better.

@@thecyberhobbit the Weta reps spent quite some time hyping Gimli and Saruman (they definitely love Gimli- went on and on about how awesome he is lol), so the 2 may turn out well. Regardless of face, the effect with the birds on Saruman’s base is the best of this entire line from what I have seen so far. As for Aragorn, I guess I will stick with the polystone line and wait for their future Miniature release (if they ever do- though their newest Eowyn was disappointing…) You definitely should contact Weta about the thing under Aragorn’s clothes though. I feel they rushed the one you got. Hopefully they work out something for you.

These are a great value. Not perfect especially the face, but you aren’t getting hit with the cost of a 1/6 Weta either. I like the figures of fandom.

What do you think of the PVC products? I only have the polystone, and the idea of PVC statues seems wrong. Thoughts/opinions from people that own both would be great.

I think they're mainly for people who don't want to break their wallet but also get something that looks pretty good. These are way cheaper than polystone and decently sized. My preference is definitely 1/6 polystone but I think there's a place for these too.

I don't know if there is actually an accurate statue of Aragorn even made yet... (under 1k at least), I have 3d printed some faces or Aragorn that are better than this. But man.. fingers crossed Weta make a good one on their miniature figure range... although they are really dragging their range out on these too as I notice Eywon is coming up next... and I wish they'd focus on the fellowship first. Enjoyed this video, you always do excellent honest reviews.

his face is really difficult to capture... perhaps the best is Aragorn at Amon Hen but yes it's now expensive. I have high hopes for the Miniature series really hoping they continue to make the entire fellowship. I wasn't too impressed with the Eowyn, probably the first I'll skip. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!

Another engaging review sir. Would be interested to hear your views/roundup of companies on the collector scene. Have seen you mainly have weta, asmus, noble and united cutlery but also wonder what you think of prime 1, queens studio and even some of the others like iron studios etc...

Thanks Pepe! I have a couple of Prime 1 pieces and they remain some of the favorites of my entire collection. I have the Queens Studio InArt Gandalf on preorder but have yet to get any Iron studios pieces. Although the Iron Studios pieces do look great and have good quality, they have had some accuracy issues. I'm a bit a of completest so honestly that's what has kept me away from starting on a new series of things. If I buy 1 I'll be tempted to get them all :D Same thing goes with the Weta Mini Epics.

Im a big weta fan but I think they dont care about the faces. At first I thought it was a licensing problem. But I start to think that they just dont care. I mean they have the most talented and skilled sculping artists and they got the technology. I think they just give up on face. As you say when its a ugly bastard to begin with or a helmet or masked charakter, they can make them look so awesome but they usually screw normal face up.

Yeah although Weta is clearly very skilled, when it came to the films involvement they never actually had to sculpt human faces so maybe that's their weak spot... although Elendil was done very well. Thanks for commenting Kai!

Faces are not their strong point. They should think about commissioning out their face sculpts, because there are plenty of talented sculpters around who could do much better than their in-house sculpters

if you mean the top of the base, it's the ring inscription, nothing on the bottom though.

I was considering buying this since it's announced , but the face sculp held me back and waiting for a good review like this. now I'm more disappointed with it ... obvious pass for me. Hoping to get Aragorn in the mini line with a better face.

oh man, what a let down. the gandalf got a very well done face paint so i wasnt worryed for this one, but i was wrong. huge step back.also those spots under the mantle, wtf. this ruins it for me. sadly those figures of fandom thing is a mixed bag. gandalf was ok but got many mistakes in the paint, hair was not sculpet the best. wich was very nice, just got a small construction mistake. lurtz was perfect for the price, and now aragorn -let down. what really pisses me of , those are small things like the spots under aragorns mantle , it would have been so easy to make this right. looks like weta is the new sideshow.

Yeah this definitely is the weakest of the FOF line, the others have been great, hopefully Gimli and Saruman are better

To be honest I hate Weta packaging not all but the vast majority, they make the figures look cheap. On the other hand, I think that until now there is no one who sculpted Vigo's face correctly.

This has become their standard for the Figures of Fandom line... I think it's because they are made from PVC so less prone to break during shipping so they can get away with not making custom styrofoam cut outs but I hear you. I think the best statue was "Aragorn at Amon Hen" but the best figure will definitely be what "InArt" is making (assuming they pull it off).

@@thecyberhobbit If the In art figure does go on sale it will make a big difference in Lord of the Rings figures.
