This is my Arai Corsair-X Kiyonari Frost helmet. It is the replica lid for Ryuichi Kiyonari, a Japanese rider who rides for Honda in the JSB1000 class. Kiyonari is a 3-time BSB champion, a 3-time WSBK winner, and a 4-time winner of the Suzuka 8-Hour.
If you don’t know know who Ryuichi Kiyonari is, you probably aren’t alone. Kiyonari isn’t a household name in the world of motorcycle racing, but he is very popular in Japan having won the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hour race on four different occasions.
Now Arai have always made the best graphics for their Japanese riders. It doesn’t matter if the rider is globally popular, Arai will give their Japanese riders the best graphics. It happens year after year.
So you won’t buy this helmet because Kiyonari is your hero, but because the graphic is dope AF. Black matte (“Frost”) with delicately painted dragons is just boss. This graphic is just so subtlety detailed. The shading of the colors, and the speckles of paint really make this graphic stand out of the pack. Anytime Arai releases a Japanese rider’s helmet design, I always am sure to pay attention. And the Kiyonari Frost is no exception. It looks great, without looking like it is trying too hard. It’s just got those amazing subtle/soft details that make it look so good.
If you are in the market for a motorcycle helmet, the Arai Corsair-X is probably the best all-around helmet money can buy. Built for the track, but with the comfort you can wear all day. It’s the perfect blend on what you would want in a lid. Definitely check out this helmet if thinking about a Corsair-X, you’d be glad you did.
As always, stay fresh.
