@@sythrin144 Yes, if you target Player A and Player B with three different Sowers, then deal 3 damage to player A, player B will lose 9 life. Player A will only lose the 3.

Thanks for the tip. Won a game with a Momir Vig deck today because of IA and it never even occurred to me that it could solve the untap problem with Araumi. On the other hand this video seems more geared towards building the deck to a medium type power level.

Desecrated Tomb? Not a bad call, but because encore is a one way trip, it might not be as powerful as in some other decks.

I like lamia because of one card in particular “oathsworn vampire”. If you’re doing an aristocrat combo deck it can just set you up to win.

@@soleo2783 No it isnt. It's 5 for the lamia and the lamia entombs oathsworn and reduces his cost by 1. So then you have a creature that you can cast from the graveyard for one black mana as many times as you want. Combine with something like goblin bombardment and pitiless plunderer to go infinite and win the game.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Obeka can't actually sidestep Coercive Recruiter and similar effects, which is why I'd imagine you have them in your list. Obeka and other "End the turn" effects like Sundial can only cheat cards that say "at the beginning of the next end step," not cards that say "Until end of turn." Insurrection, Act of Treason, Coercive Recruiter, and most, if not all other red steal effects are worded as "until end of turn." This is because of how Sundial/Obeka/Discontinuity sidestep end-of-turn effects. You have to allow the end-step trigger to go on the stack, and then end the turn to exile the stack. This works with Encore effects, because they get a sacrifice trigger at the beginning of the end step, which goes on the stack. Once the trigger is on the stack, you end the turn, which exiles the stack. But effects that read as "until end of turn" don't go on the stack at all. Rule 514.2 says: "The following actions happen simultaneously: all damage marked on permanents (including phased-out permanents) is removed and all “until end of turn” and “this turn” effects end. This turn-based action doesn’t use the stack."

In the case of fleet swallower i feel like its fun, but potentially a risky addition because so many decks lately are using our benefiting from a fat graveyard.

Sower of Discord doesnt loop because he causes life loss, he doesnt inflict damage. I still think he is a great card in this deck and a strong and budget finisher.

Do you want to focus on lands or elementals? That is an important choice

@@lracseroom8286 Fair point... and it's not like dimir doesn't have things it can do with absurd amounts of mana; though big *creature* based stuff is more a green thing, there's enough there in the blue & black, particularly if you're creating one token for each opponent, to make for a wild ride.

@@lracseroom8286 I'm thinking about it though, and it still seems better to handle the untaps with something like Vizier of Tumbling Sands, Fatestitcher, Keplie Guide, etc. They're bodies that you can encore in and of themselves so you don't have to worry about accidentally milling them in to your grave. It's not like you're going to need to untap Araumi more than a few times in a turn anyway.

I literally just cut the rings out of my araumi (not yet in the list, but in mind) Rings was for mainly a two card Combo with encore gary to end a game, but in that case it is just a bit better than panharmonicon for more mana(since one encore trigger with the resulting etb resolves, before the other) *and* it is much worse a lot of the rest of the time. If you get to encore a bunch in a game or have a lot of activated abilities that are worth it, sure..., But chances are, you are already winning at that point.

Tokens don't normally have mana costs because the effect that creates them doesn't give them a mana cost. Token copies are the exception, they have mana costs because the object they're copying has a mana cost. The tokens made through the Embalm and Eternalize mechanics only don't have a mana cost so that WotC wouldn't need to worry about confusing new players.

They're already in the average deck list.

How do you want it to work?

@@TraumaAlertZepplin edit: I had it backwards (card works kinda different in multiplayer) if you encore it you should get the 3 next turns and then skip the 3 you would get after that. Hope that clears it up. The easiest way to abuse the manta is to cancel out the etb triggers with something like torpor orb. 4 consecutive turns is pretty good but if you can’t pull out a win, you won’t survive skipping the next 3 and because it gets exiled you can’t really go infinite.

You get ZERO extra turns. If the three ETB triggers resolve, then their delayed triggers see your next three "extra turns" when they happen and remove them. Without some intervention on countering the ETBs, then you will get nothing. Sundial of the Infinite and a sacrifice outlet (both already good for the deck) would allow for three extra turns.

@@suikodin2501 I don’t think that’s how that works. There isn’t a delayed trigger. It removes your next 3 turns from the turn order then adds 3. You net zero extra but you get to take 4 in a row.

He cut it because he didn't like that it was mono color (and tapped), valid argument(s). This iteration had too few rocks/ramps imo. I'll link a reference for good ramp options (hopefully filter allows me comment). For this deck I'd start with dimir talisman and signet, as well as arcane signet. They all tap for color and come in untapped, meaning they only cost 1 mana on late turns, and are playable as early as turn two. Then I'd go with the rest of the 2-cost untapped rocks. I personally run 12+ ramp in all my decks and never regret it. I think the only issue is that without Encore its an embarissing card really. Playing this deck made me realize you DEF want creatures you want to play on curve in the first place and not just for the encore value.

Not good. You want creatures that are good on their own and even better when you encore. Miscreant does nothing on it's own. A creature that draws a card on etb with no condition would be better. This is why Muldrifter is in the deck.

@@k9commander Yeah that sounds about right. What about in tapping effects like Corridor Monitor? On its own, you can Encore another cheap creature and using it as an Encore target late game allows for finisher plays.

@@noy6291 It doesnt really allow for finisher plays. As Araumi cant use the multiple untap effects from it cause Encore is a sorcery speed ability.

@@Winterhe4rt Yes Encore is a sorcery speed ability but Araumi’s ability is granting encore to the card in the grave until end of turn. Meaning I can grant multiple creatures encore at instant speed.

Second opponent is 'loss of life', not dmage. So it does not go beyond the second

This decklist was not abusing multiple araumi activations though, from everything i have seen Sure, for the untap araumi versions priest of gix gains value and is decent, but here it is less than mediocre

Most players aren't using a cEDH mababase or rocks, but Joey does seem to misunderstand that the low land count could be the result of cEDH decklists.

I think that's the issue, it's great if you encore it.... but eh when it isn't. IMO Deluvian isn;t a great pick either
