They look good for the price point and light duty use case, bummer no oil change access plate and that they left the exhaust unprotected by the transfer case.

we chose the RCI skids for protection... we live off road so we needed a tad more thickness... in all honesty only the front differential skid needs to be tough since it hangs the lowest... like you said, you'll definitely have a weight advantage with this set up. Keep us posted on how it goes! ✌️

Just in case anyone is interested - Victory 4x4 skid plate bolts right up to the CBI covert bumper. And it has oil filter access.

Just installed these today on my 2012. Your video helped a lot especially with that big bold on the rear support bar. What a pain in the ass! I have two bolts left over after installing though, hope I didn't miss something but I don't think I did lol

Hmmm...the transfer case is where you're most likely to get high-centered, and that plate looks less than robust. I might get a better plate there, but the ARB stuff looks fine for everywhere else

I’ve drilled the center diff plate pretty good and it’s held up so far. It’s a smaller piece so less leverage to bend it out of shape.

Just watched your video and interestingly I just completed the ARB Skid plate install on my 16 GX460 last week. I also have the CBI Covert bumper and was also confused on how to mount the front skid at first. I then realized that you need to reuse the two support pieces from the OEM Skid and it bolts right on perfectly. The only issue I had was the driver rear bolt on the front skid needed to be widened with a Dremel to make it fit (DYI Garage had the same issue). Let me know and I can send you a picture of what it looks like with the OEM supports.

Posted the picture to your FB page. Other than the one hole that needed to be widened everything went pretty smoothly. Just took my time and tried to be patient. The long handled tool that holds the nut for the bracket bolt I went in from the hole to the drivers side of the bolt hole using needle nose vise grip and then was able to remove the tool afterwards.

Interested in the same arb setup..Does the center piece use the existing captive nuts? The reason I ask is that one of my stock nuts broke off.

The front part of the center piece attaches to the front piece with provided hardware (clip in nut, bolts). The rear attaches to existing bolts (2 spots). Does that answer your question? If not let me know.

Surprised the front plate assembly does not cover the exhaust pipe that is next to it. Isn't the aluminum pipe vulnerable to puncture also? I'm confused

Any concern on the Transfer Case Skid? Seem like most of the force is still transmitted to the thing you are trying to protect, albeit it's now distributed.

I agree it will still get a lot of energy if impacted, but hopefully it will be a glancing blow that it can slide off of.

The front panel does. I get my oil changed at the fast chain type place and they’ve never complained. Only had one put a surcharge on the bill.

Used them the first time at Wolf Creek and they took some really big hits. So far they are holding up really well. They have since been on several other trails, taking big hits like a champ. The only thing I wish was different about them: wish they had an access panel for the oil filter. That said, I haven't had any oil change places give me trouble about having to remove the forward most panel to access the oil filter.

Based on this it looks like the 5421100 fits the GX460 - I'm seeing though that the 5421110 is the part number for KDSS vehicles and it's in another video for the GX460...but seems like both fit?

Good question! The ARB 5421110 looks like its designed for the Prado 150 with KDSS which you would think would work for the GX460. It looks different though - more indented in the front - don’t think that would get in the way but I can’t confirm. Let me know if you figure out what the difference is.

@@TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad installed the 5421110 and it fits just fine with exception of having to bore one hole out a bit more so it would fit on the front plate. In your description you link the 5421100 but watching your video again you actually did install the 5421110. Cheers!

Do you need to remove the whole thing to in order to change your oil?

usually there's an access hole I think...

You can easily reach the drain plug. To replace the filter you have to remove the front skid. This is the same as stock since it comes with a (thin) skid plate.
