As a gardener, thank you for your showing silky saws, I only came across a few weeks ago watching corporal corner, They’re not sold in my state so I’ll purchase online, There were times working when I needed a serious hand saw. keep well. Daz from australia

I have the Gomtaro 300MM straight blade saw and I swapped out the original blade that came with the saw and I went with a fine-tooth blade and it's treated me extremely well over the last number of years. The scaber has two rollers in the sleeve which works great also. Silky Saws are a bit expensive but, you'll be happy that you paid the extra and got one of these fine hand pruning tools.

An hour of watching KZfaq videos before I finally found one that bothered to give a reasoning for choosing between curved and strait! Thanks!!

No Samurai? I like the blue handled Challenge for pruning. The long Tsurugi is my top choice for removals. It wasn't covered in this video, but the Stealth pole saw runs circles around the others. I just have to keep my neighbors from borrowing it.

Very nice video... question the one you started off with, could you bring that camping, and what would be the largest tree you would be able to cut down or just cut you firewood?

That's the Zubat 330, which has a 13" blade, so you could probably get away with cutting something around the 8-10" range, but it might take a little while. You might look into something like this: www.treestuff.com/silky-bigboy-2000-folding-saw/ It has a little longer blade, room on the handle for both hands, and folds up nice. We carry a couple longer folding saws, but they get expensive pretty quickly.

Geez, I dunno that I'd be using the tip of my saw to hook my climbing rope. I seem to remember the arborist I worked for did a test on what it would take to completely cut through a climbing rope under tension with a japanese pull cut saw. If I remember right, it required very little effort...maybe even less than one whole stroke. Memory may be a little rusty though, that was nearly 30 years ago.

Exactly the sqme thought. Seen enough videos in training sessions where the rope was under load and under tension it just snapped. However I think he might be using the blunted saw tip, when the rope is say not under tension? But even still, I think there are better ways to do it than using saw and accidentally damaging it.

Someone needs to invent an arborist saw blade that fits a sawzall/reciprocating type of saw. I use one with a wood blade. It cuts in one direction. It’s battery powered and portable. An arborist blade that cuts in two directions would make it a great pruning option.
