With rains forecast for Saturday, it was time to double up on Friday ahead of rising creek waters. It’s what we do when we can. And what a day it was.
We started with an amazing effort by 10 of us in the morning at Ali’s Friday Arcade Crk Cleanup, just upstream from Keoncrest Circle. 3 large piles were made, hauled and loaded which filled over half the trailer - an incredible haul of roughly 2,580 pounds!
After lunch, 5 of us continued on by first hauling out and loading the large 1,200 pound pile made by Lisa, Lilia, David and Shane just downstream a couple of nights ago. Then it was on to the afternoon event just downstream where we hauled out and loaded another 1/2 ton of trash in 3 hours.
We finished packing the trailer full right at 5:35 pm, leaving just enough time to rush to the dump before 6 pm closing.
Total Haul: An incredible 4,780 pounds!!! 💪💚

This is what $100 gave you with today's crew: Over 50 volunteer hours and almost 2 1/2 tons of trash removed from a creek that is starting to thrive again thanks to volunteer efforts! What a bargain!

Thank you Alison (our amazing host), our suburb team of volunteers (5 of whom did double-duty - 7 1/2 hours worth), Sacramento Area Sewer District (for the trailer that allowed us to haul ALL of this in one load and dump it in less than a minute) and to County of Sacramento (for our free dump vouchers).
It was another sensational day for RCWA and Arcade Creek!
