you can upload it in upscaled 1080p. It sounds dump, but it helps to protect the video from the compression rape.

I think he meant that the video quality is not good. There are tons of artifacts and overall compression makes it look extremely blurry compared to the uncompressed 240p resolution!

You don't understand the game and you got a really, really bad high score. But you dodged every bullet perfectly, which is difficult for the best players in the world. That's suspicious to me, what proof is there that no savestates were used in this run? It looks like it was played on an emulator; if there is no proof on savestates then I'm calling BS on this video.
@Square_Air6 жыл бұрын
There's no way this is a legit run. At first I thought this could just be a Kuso clear thrown together as fast as possible without any regard for scoring, but stuff like the dodge at 20:10 is just laughable.
@happiestfish15266 жыл бұрын
The point of these sorts of videos - "longplays" - is always to show off the entire game to scrubs, not teach you how to score big. If you geniuses have such good eyesight to notice a savestate, why don't you work on your scores a little? I see the ones you post are nothing special.
@Square_Air6 жыл бұрын
I'm not implying that this was meant to be a showcase of scoring or trying to shame SCHLAUCHI for their score. The problem I have is that they're not upfront about this being tool assisted when it clearly is. If they were honest about this I wouldn't even have commented. As for longplays, the website states that "A longplay is a play-through of a computer or video game, created with the intent of completing it as fully as possible, mainly for the purposes of nostalgia, preservation, and possibly as a walkthrough". While I'm not expecting a superplay, I would hope that they would demonstrate some proficiency in playing since the intent is to complete as a game "as fully as possible". I understand that this video was not intended to show how scoring works, but this run doesn't even really showcase basic survival properly since the external tools used removed the need to play the game properly. If someone created a longplay of Super Mario Brothers 3 with infinite invincibility and proceeded to just walk through enemies to the end of the game it wouldn't be an accurate representation of how the game was supposed to play, which is just poor preservation. Your nonspecific criticism of my scores just comes off as hollow and petty. I'm not sure if you were trying to insult me or be constructive, but you're going to need to be a more precise if you want me to be receptive to your evaluation.
@Toarcade4 жыл бұрын
@@Square_Air Amen brother lol My lifelong contempt for "longplays" of arcade games comes down to exactly what you wrote. It aims to show an "as complete as possible" preservation of gameplay, yet it's always done by people with no clue whatsoever on how to play the game (also because the creators of longplays just play one after another without actually dedicating to learn a single one in depth). In this specific example, and this applies to many arcade games, the core source of "gameplay fun" comes from applying the mechanics of the game: You are supposed to reflect bullets on enemies to create more gold, more gold gets you EXP, more EXP gets you stronger shot types, more score and an extra life. This video shows you none of that, the ship is not even fully leveled up (4 of 8 levels... how is that full preservation??). The player constantly uses the emergency bomb (which a real superplayer would only use 1-2 times in the whole game, as it's not recommended even for survival's sake) and finishes the game with 175,000 EXP (you can get this much in half of Stage 1) and a mindboggling score that's less than 3% of the world record.
@Toarcade4 жыл бұрын
For real "preservation of how arcade game gameplay", check out the channel Retro Burners. They upload mame replays which are not tool-assisted and while they aren't all the best scores or world records, all of their replays are MAME replays by top-level players who really understand the game mechanics and display them for future reference when the skill and community disappeared.

As beautiful this game is, I just can't understand the purporse of a game like that. It's just impossible for an human being to dodge all those bullets (or even understand what's going on on screen) and make it to the end with 1 coin. I love shooters to death but this "bullet hell" philosophy is just weird to me.
@raiverns96205 жыл бұрын
The idea is to milk quarters out of people as much as possible. It's a relatively uncreative and cheap way to pad a game's difficulty when you get tired of play testing the damn thing.
@Toarcade4 жыл бұрын
While Mars Matrix is one of the hardest games of its type, it's very well doable to finish it with one credit only. This video doesn't demonstrate it very well because it features endless amounts of crazy tool-assisted dodging rather than using the bullet-reflecting special weapon in the intended way. When played properly, you can avoid most of the impossible bullet dodges.
