Arcade1up Big Blue Marvel vs Capcom 2: Q-Sound / CPS2 Type Conversion (Mod)

Let's take a look at this Marvel vs Capcom 2 Big Blue Project! I did my best to keep everything as "OEM" feeling as possible, while still capturing Capcom's CP System II (Q-Sound CPS2) aesthetic. This conversion can be done without any MAJOR modifications, no drilling, re-wiring (unless you choose), or damaging parts. It's also budget friendly!
Note: I masked off the bezel and used a satin metallic black spray paint

Really cool! Thanks for sharing. I actually have 2 big blues from Arcade1up, one of them still in the box. I was really thinking about copying your work, but with the Nova Blast coming out, I am rethinking as I might want to just make that my all purpose fighting game cab.

That cabinet looks unbelievably cool and how arcade 1up should have made it 😅 Looks like you put alot of work into it! I have a big blue and didn't know if you charged for any printing services ? Its ok if you don't but i want my cabinet to kind of to look kind of like yours!😅😂

Very nice setup,that blue speaker panel really pops out.Wish i had the experience to create my own cabinet.I would go for a SOR4 themed cab.Still got a stripped Sega Virtual Striker 2 cabinet in my garage.Waiting to get a make over.😆Love your (synthwave styled) videos.

Nice! I actually modded mine and added a gaming pc with Batocera and replaced the speaker with a sound bar, with a sinden, and a cup holder. Yours looks better though I only have a coin door that I 3d printed and the stock control panel.

Build a cabinet for the MiSTer FPGA and you'll have 1,000 arcades including all of the CPS 1, 1.5 and 2 games. You did such a good job with the controls. Now having said that, I must admit that I don't have any standup arcades myself. I'm just a wannabe... but hoping for some day. MiSTerAddons just got their MiSTerCADE boards back in today... and I ordered one. I'm hoping to someday have something to put it into... hopefully something newer that supports JAMMA... which I've heard of at least one company supposedly coming out with a new Candy Cab style system. Anyway, great video!

Yeah I did this exact mod a year ago. Ended up selling it. I will say. Yours is nice. Mine looked More accurate looking to an original. Had a 99 lives deck. Mvc 2 marquee from this ability upgrades and used happ competition and a 1up kit coin door. I did black T molding and a sound stickers. I also had square speaker covers and that same side art lol

Sweet! Sold it and moved on to something better? Yea I wanted an MVC2 BB up in my loft game room, but I wanted it done right. Obviously doesn't compare to my MVC2 z-back I had, but it's easy to move and does what I want it to. I still have a full NAOMI kit I've been considering throwing in there.

@@SheLionGaming I actually went and did a hs-1 restore and turned into a Capcom play system theme running a cps-2 board modded w the dark soft cps-2 multi-kit with a jamma switcher that runs a mister fpga build that boots into the cps-1 and 1.5 cores. I’m nuts I’ll tell ya what. I’ve had a bunch of 1ups that I modded the fuck out of to get them looking and playing as close to the real thing as possible. Then I sold them all and movexd to full size restores. I’m happy w my results and the knowledge I learned but if I could go back in time I wish I had my 1 ups back.

Is the marquee size you requested from dbgraphics 9x18? I just did a rough estimate on my big blue without disassembly. Looks to be about 9x18 and noticed the link to the plexi is for 9x18. Just making sure I order correctly.

Yes, 9x18. I usually have to trim the DB-GRAPHIX marquee art on the sides a bit. Marquee plexi should fit perfectly, though :)

@@SheLionGaming Thanks I just ordered the marquee 9x18 and ordered 9x18 1/8" clear plexi from another Ebay vendor for $17 shipped. Solid price. The one linked the shipping alone was $17 or so. Thank you for your suggestions. I don't have a nice color printer at home, do you know of a color printing service online who can print and ship to me? I'd even pay you!

@SheLionGaming Jayde, what dimensions did you use when printing the yellow Capcom, the q audio, and the front graphics of the characters? I ask because the graphic designer at my job is going to resize them for me so I can print them here at work, but I don't know what to tell her. Would you be able to provide me the dimensions used? Like I said arcade 2 up keeps on adding newer games that’s why don’t buy until they are done the first one was marvel super heroes only 3 games then came out X-men Vs street fighter and marvel Vs capcom them later came out marvel Vs capcom 2 with 2 Super Nintendo games instead of arcade games arcade 1 up could of added every game but they won’t they only add 2 games

Why were American cabs built to give you carpel tunnel. The angle it’s at and the button placement are terrible for your hand.

The inline 6 is easily the best layout for fighting games. The arch layout is just silly and awkward

Marvel 2 wasn't even on the CPS2...it was on the Sega NAOMI platform...and it didn't use QSound...

And? That didn’t stop arcade operators from putting it in big blues. It was a CAPCOM game. Additionally, the 1U PCBA has all the CPS2 games on it (in case you weren’t aware). Check out my Z-Back restore of MvC2 if you like real coin ops.
