Man i remember when i first found this video. Interested, i downloaded the game and got to playing. I never stopped. I’m now 12.62 potential and i have every single song almost 2 years later. I still feel nostalgic seeing this video.

The best part is, I know one of the charters for the game. And he says that the charts he makes, despite being insanely hard, are designed to be played with thumbs. Everyone in the chat thought he was insane.

Avid Arcaea player here. Lemme give a few pointers to newer players. -When you start playing, use Tairitsu in World Mode. Her STEP stat is higher than Hikari's, meaning you will progress towards new songs faster. Other than that, try some songs in Play mode and see what difficulty you're comfortable with before diving into World Mode to start unlocking. Don't worry about buying packs, the free songs should be enough to get you started. -Awakening isn't something you need to worry about until you max out either Tairitsu or Hikari. Pretty much if you hit level 20, and have the right items, you can awaken them, allowing a max level of 30. You get these items via world mode. -Ether Drops are objects on world maps that give your current partner a set amount of XP. They're good if you don't wanna grind World mode to level a character. -I highly recommend getting the Vicious Labyrinth as your first pack. It does have harder songs, however you can get the Grievous Lady Tairitsu partner via world mode, which at level 20 has one of the highest STEP stats for a non-event partner at 102. This accelerates world mode progress. -The only thing Potential affects is unlocking Luna in the Binary Enfold world maps, and unlocking SAIKYO STRONGER FTR in the Hardcore TANO*C collab. It's not a game mechanic you need to worry about much, unless you wanna show off. -Reading the Arcaea wiki for info on song unlocking (mainly for Fracture Ray, Grievous Lady, and Tempestissimo), is a good idea. -The world maps you get for unlocking Grievous Lady, Fracture Ray and Tempestissimo can be done on any difficulty. -Prioritize unlocking World Extend songs if you can. They're available for free unlock for only a limited time, so grab them while you can. If you missed out on songs, the 700 memories is worth it, since you unlock all future world extend songs as well. -Some partners gain new skills after awakening, such as Lethe and Kou. -After playing the game for a while, I HIGHLY recommend getting Black Fate. Tairitsu (Tempest) is by far the hardest partner to play with due to the way her gauge works, but her STEP stat is potentially the highest in the game, as it increases based on the combined level of all your owned partners. Beware, for Black Fate's songs are not for the faint of heart, nor is Tairitsu (Tempest)'s gauge. -Beyond charts are extra difficulty charts for different songs. They’re harder than Future and unlocked via their own unique system. Each partner has an Overdrive stat, which is separate from STEP and determines how far your partner travels along the road to unlocking a Beyond chart. Each Beyond chart has a few partners the map has an affinity with, which multiplies their Overdrive stat by a good amount. I highly recommend using the partner with the highest affinity, unless the other partners are enough of a higher level than the other that their Overdrive stat beats theirs, even with the affinity multipliers. Edit 5/9/2020: Added to the tip about potential stat. Edit 7/22/2020: Added tips on World Extend, Awakened Partner Skills, and Black Fate. Edit: 5/23/2021: It’s been a while, hasn’t it? As a thumb player Arcaea forces me to be quicker and it's definitely not as easy as Lanota. In Lanota my two thumbs are fine but I've spent a couple of hours on Arcaea and I can definitely say it's a great rhythm game that encourages me to try a lot harder in Arcaea which is cool :3

arcaea is one of the highest skill ceiling rhythm games ive seen for mobile. the charting in this game is some of the most creative stuff ive ever seen---there are charts which manage to do storytelling of it's own. For example, I absolutely love how the charting in Dantalion is a fast, nonstop rain of notes, complimenting the events in the story chapter the song is associated with (which involves a torrential downpour of glass shards. the game's "Beyond" difficulty utilize the existing mechanics in ways that cleverly break their own "charting meta"--the gimmick in PRAGMATISM Resurrection is so fucking clever that I'm hyped by it. It's one of the few games I've seen that demands so many different types of movement--crossover, jacks, fingerswitches, four-holds, one-handed and two handed gameplay, often blended together in seemless ways within the same chart. almost every song in this game feels memorable or unique in what it asks you to do. at it's core, I think arcaea's gameplay is a love letter to pure chart design--finding the limits of what the mobile rhythm game design space can even do and leveraging the unique things that mobile games (as opposed to PC or arcade) can do.

finally a game i’m better than a youtuber at!!! jokes aside i’m very happy you tried arcaea, it truly is an amazing rhythm game, both on the gameplay aspect and just with how polished it is, and i think you explained it really nicely to a new player! Also i couldn’t agree more with the song selection, although it’s small you become very attached to it, since every chart is so different. i also think you should definitely review dynamix, it’s such a fun game and honestly it’s harder than arcaea haha- anyway thanks for the video it was quite entertaining

If anyone was wondering what she was going to say at 7:44 then allow me to enlighten you (MAJOR STORY SPOILERS AHEAD) In the final story pack (black fate) the girls fight. Tairistu ends up killing Hikari. Black fate is also the song pack that unlocks Tempestissimo (or however u spell it lol) and during your first play of the chart, you are not allowed to access the pause menu. This is to symbolize there is no way to avoid Hikari dying. Thx for reading lol

So I was going on a trip to Nagoya, Japan. I played Arcaea on my phone on plane and it works, also I can play Garakuta with phone Also I am struggling to get FR on phone FR: I mean Fracture Ray Edit: in order to unlock Fracture Ray(my favourite song so far), you’ll need to seal Zero Hikari’s skill, it can be done at any level but I recommend lvl 7 if you want to enjoy, lvl8 if you just want for a challenge and stats(Zero Hikari’s skill is just once you miss, it’s gonna reset it’s gauge, max lvl makes everything worthless) Also I just watched you got it, nice skill(it’s easy to unlock I remember unlocking it at 37% in 2 days Edit2: too much info for you. So at the “Absolute Reason” update, where my second favourite favourite character which is from the cover in game of “Alexandrite” is a partner along with the packs, they also added “ether drops” which levels up your character, you can get them by playing world mode. Then there is “awakening”, where you have to painfully collect different cores(Hollow cores, Desolate cores, or CHUNITHM cores which are limited time event only item and I used them to awaken Regulus). “Adverse prelude” update got a visual settings, Colourblind mode. Thanks for doing a video on Arcaea -- I actually found this game a little over a year ago (on iOS), and never really bothered to get that far into it because it was *so* boring to play, compared to several other titles I had on my iPhone at the time. Since moving to android, I still haven't picked it back up--but seeing just how complicated and interesting it gets in the later parts of the game, has really interested me...especially since I've classified Muse Dash as a PC-only title for me going forward...

Arcaea was my second rhythm game back whenever I first dipped my toes into them years ago, Dynamix being my first and still one of my favorites. Arcaea used to be one on my favorites, I played it a lot and I loved it for its difficulty (back then I only played with my thumbs so that was fun), and I got really far in the game unlocks-wise and really enjoyed coming back to it a lot. ... But then they added world mode. And it kinda turned me off from the game. About half of the songs I previously owned and bought already were now locked behind a progression wall that I either had to spend days on end working towards when I already owned the songs before, or I had to pay so I wouldn't have to wait for stamina. The sad part is, I've wanted to come back to this game multiple times, but the thought of World Mode just turns me away every time. I don't like progression locked behind a time/paywall, especially for songs which I had already owned before the World Mode was introduced. Maybe one day I'll come back to it, but as of now, I'll just stick to Dynamix for a mobile rhythm game.

Arcaea's gameplay shocked me as hell at first sight because the sky mechanic was new for me and the thought of pressing on a higher half of your tablet screen (Except maybe for Opsu and Cytus?? And a slice of Lanota) Just gives me this huge "???"

This was the first video that gave me interest to arcaea, I was a thumb player that time. I was literally not able to clear even a past song before. I remember when I reached 9ptt, I bought my first 2 packs LS and VL. I also remember getting axium tairitsu after i grinded in world mode. Now I'm looking at myself with 11.31ptt with all story packs and the songs in them (minus solitary dream) im proud
