That’s the problem, Powder was already unstable but nobody in the undercity had the capacity to deal with that, she was one in hundreds… that’s how people end up like Silco, the whole system is constantly failing them.

@@biazacha Yeah. They teased this already in episode 1 in the intro where you can see the typical Jinx effects during the explosions and on the enforcers. When Vi leaves Powder behind when they go to rescue Vandor she also has this super unstable tantrum, which was a major red flag that showed her codependency on Vi. And later when Vi and Caitlyn are on the bed and Vi tells the story about the monsters that she had to shoo away, it suddenly makes also way more sense how Powder got scared for real, because she probably started to literally see those monsters. Similar to how in the last episode all those ghosts of the past became monsters that haunt her when Vi tries to bring them up, making things even worse for her mental state. Powder also mentions that she wants Vi to make Caitlyn go away, because to her she's also a monster. It's actually a fairly accurate depiction of a severe untreated psychosis.

@@KeijiMaeda86 What would somebody living in a place like that find valuable? What use would jewelry/money be? Weapons are what would be the most useful. I do think it would have been better to show her try a couple of things and having them rejected before offering her gun, just to emphasize that point. But I just don't think topside valuables would have been of interest to the potion lady.

@@kenjutsukata1o1 Yo I'm late af, but I think Caitlyn had already played her hand just by being there. She had to give what the salesperson thought was her most valuable possession. If she offered jewelry or something, the lady would probably demand that as well as the gun. The gun was the easiest and quickest way to make sure she didn't get punked

@@TheTororist It's implied, given the color of the flowers, and how much Singed wants the mutation - not rio - to survive that Rio is the base of developping Shimmer. In EP3 - so years later from when Singed started working on Rio -, you can see in Silco's hiding spot that there is artificial muscles pumping shimmer into vials. Also, Rio shows the same markings and dark veins that Shimmer users shows. Basically, Rio is the base for Shimmer.

There's a lot of symbolism in Cait's gun. The beginning of episode 5 starts with Grayson asking Cait what she's shooting for(or to protect). The first time we see Cait using her gun is to save Vi, and then later trades in her most valued and skilled possession to save Vi.

The blue smokes is a nod to episode 3, when she was falling and all she could see was the pretty blue smoke from the hextech explosions. In the game she also has pink bullets and people are speculating when those will be relevant.

Does blue tattoos has no meaning behind them because the champion was made 2 years before they even thought about this series

Shimmer is like any strong drug doctors use, most of them have really bad side effects and are dangerous in higher amounts but they save people in really bad situations.

I think its good too look at shimmer as a chemical that can open the body to change. What change and in what way depends on how the chemical is used and in what dosage.

@@raymax_1071 Okay that's bit overboard. I get the comparison but it's not like drugs do what Shimmer does to people xD Shimmer is not real and majority of drugs are tested and totally safe unless you overdose. And not all get side effects

While that kind of makes sense, it's also worth mentioning that shimmer is kind of a biological "explain it all" magic. No amount of drugs of any kind can save you from a stab if you don't get some kind of physical treatment (stitches and bandages and surgery)

Every time I watch a person react this show, these are the 3 scenes on my mind that I can’t wait for them to see. Those, plus the ending scene in episode 7-the music is just epic.

Yeah if Silco was actually trying to help Powder, and he had any real faith in Powder and his relationship with her, he would have let them meet. But Silco's primary motivation is simply not losing Powder regardless of whether thats good for her or not. So he does everything he can to keep the split apart. To make sure he remains the only person in her life.

To paraphrase a comment I saw on a different reaction: Vander was the father Vi, Powder, etc. needed. Caring about them genuinely but willing to call them out on their mistakes to help them become better more rounded people. Silco is the father Powder/Jinx wants, but doesn't need. He loves her unconditionally, unlike Vander he will love her regardless of what she does or acts like and never reprimand her beyond a surface level. When push comes to shove he'll choose Jinx even if it's bad for both him and her. In his eyes Jinx doesn't need to change at all because as he's said before, Jinx is "perfect". Very tempting for someone who struggled with abandonment issues, not feeling good enough, messing things up and told she wasn't good enough. If Jinx is "perfect" then there's no need to tell her about Vi, because Jinx doesn't need her. In fact it could "hurt" her. Jinx was made because of Powder's trauma, Jinx is trying to get away from the past, but can't with the voices, triggers, etc. Vi doesn't care about Jinx, only Powder. She doesn't know anything about Jinx as a person, (how could she locked up in prison?) only the person she used to be from a past she doesn't want to think about, can't escape, but desperately wants to. Silco is the only person who cares about Jinx and not Powder, the person she is now over the person she was and doesn't want to (and arguably can't) be anymore. It's a mirror of her relationship with Vander. Vi will and can only love her conditionally, the condition that she be Powder. Silco won't, he'll accept her without her having to change at all, even if she'd be more stable mentally, resolve her trauma and slowly improve her life if she went with Vi. That's hard and not what Jinx seemingly wants. At least not while Caitlyn is there to "replace" Powder.

@@beyondviolet Eh, considering he has no issues with either sending her out into lethal combat situations to murder people for him, or in sending the mentally ill child to sit alone in her room situated above a bottomless pit where she plays with explosives while the dolls of her victims endlessly torment her. He's remarkably cavalier about both her physical and mental health any other time. It seems much more likely he's only concerned about letting Vi and Powder see each other because Vi's the last person alive that Powder could connect with besides himself and he knows it. His one line about wanting to protect her was confirmed by the show writers to be a manipulation and he was intentionally and knowingly lying in that moment. He's possessive of her because of his own abandonment issues and his desperate need to maintain that possession is what seems to drive him.

@@troikas3353 Silco does that because he knows Jinx needs to feel useful and trusted (plus her room is perfect for testing bombs). In his mind, Powder was weak (comparing her to his past self) and this version of her is not. Obviously there’s a selfish part of him that wants her all to himself (plenty of irl parents are like that), but it’s very clear that he cares for her and wants what he believes is best for her.
