I will disagree on some points simply on account of this: Heimerdinger shouldn't be expected to have all the answers. Why is the lack of solutions his fault exclusively? When he made Piltover, he could have made himself king. Instead, he created a council where people would share equal power. He might have more prestige due to his old age and his status as founder, but he has as much power as everyone else in that table. He has 1/8ths of the vote. He is an academic. His responsibilities revolve around technology and science. He is quick to tell people what to do when it comes to those topics. Because it is his area of expertise and he has the experience to back up his knowledge. Why is it that all woes of the city should have to single handedly be solved by him? I also get a bit salty at this episode when Jayce accuses Heimerdinger to not solving the problem of violence, when the problem only got exacerbated when Jayce created super weapons, against Heimerdinger's advice, and failed to secure them. Plus, Jayce is the one who rose to the council under the responsibility of safeguarding Hextech. IF anyone should be solving this issue, it is him. I think Jayce is fundamentally a good person and his heart is in the right place, but in this particular case, this was a political move. He wasn't doing it for Piltover, he was doing it because Heimerdinger was in the way of what he thought was best.

@@naosou921 Good points. I will also say that Jayce was definitely very worried about Viktor's life, so I don't think it was purely a political move. And you're right that Heimerdinger isn't solely responsible for the problems in Piltover and the undercity. But, regardless of his areas of expertise, he's on the ruling council, which means that it's at least partially his responsibility. We've never heard him offer any solutions other than make things safer and wait it out. That's great for science and technology; it doesn't work as well for more immediate human problems. I don't think Heimerdinger is a bad person; indeed, I think he's a good person. But he does come across as self-righteous, indifferent, and out of touch. I do think that Jayce went too far in forcibly retiring him; unfortunately, both of them were acting out of strong emotions, with little to no room for compromise.

@@Shax22132 Yeah, definitely not all that political, like I said, he thought it was best. In this case, he thought Hexcore was going to save Viktor. He also wanted to rush out Hextech because he didn't think it was so dangerous (and we all know what happens later). So it is certainly a case of heart in the right place, but hell is paved with good intentions. I think Heimerdinger is essential in the council, because his perspective and his carefulness are the perfect counter balance for Jayce/Viktor's impatience and eagerness. He just needs people who can take care of the other issues in the city while he focus on his area of expertise, science. It is a damn shame the other councilors weren't properly explored.

That is interesting, that this is the only time in the whole show when the flashback of Milo and Claggor are regular-looking rather than corrupted.

Finished episode 7 last night. We agree so far.

I'm a big fan episode 4 just because I love timeskips and seeing how characters have changed. Jinx's entrance was so cool.

Safe to say we have mixed feelings about every single character! This show does an amazing job on portraying characters with complexity and depth.

He's too passive.

I’m happy they noticed the opera metaphor that some reactors missed; he’s there enjoying a great time literally giving his back to all the rotten things inside his city and after centuries it finally bite him in the ass. He’s not a bad person, not even a bad leader, but was for way too long without nobody holding HIM accountable.

Heimerdinger has 1/8th of the votes in the council. He is the founder and has prestige, but realistically, he only has so much power. He can't single handedly save the city and solve all its problems, especially when its problems are something completely out of his area of expertise, which is science.

He is not the only one with poiwer, he is but one part of the Council and the decisionary power. But yeah he is first and foremost a Scientist, and his longevity and view on life, make i'm unfit to Lead. He is too passive, cause to him things can take its time to reach its natural conclusion, but like Jayce said, Humans don't have that kinda time, and its something that he either doesn't understand or that he forgot. He also saw what happens whne MAgic and Power is Misused, so he is very wary of fast technological progress and that it needs torough testing even if it takes years, wich in itself is the right thing to ddo, but like i said, he forgots that he is the only one who has that kinda patience and time. Its also something that he learns later on...

Competent people don't get ousted from power. He was ousted for not understanding humans, and not paying attention to his surroundings. That goes for both the council and the undercity. Of course greedy people are going to be the ones who try to steal power - that's like saying water is wet. Competent leaders will be on guard for that, and prepare accordingly.

The only reason Jayce decided to kick out Heimerdinger is to prevent the Hexcore, the only thing that could save Viktor's life, to be destroyed. When he told Viktor that he "needs to get ready", he's gathering all his knowledge to build this case. He listed the facts that are in his favor, took the advantage of the council's corruption, prepared the speech to initiate the vote etc. He was desperate to save Viktor's life and it was the only option he had. We can see the pain in him for having to do this both in this episode and next.
