I always wanted to try making amvs as well, but I never knew where to start and where to get the music and videoclips from.. uhm could anyone of you help me with that and maybe share you sources or sth?

@@steffi4281 so my sources vary from media to media! I wouldn’t say that that the way I acquire media for one thing the same way I acquire another thing. There’s a few things to keep in mind: when you’re downloading anything for a video, you need to be aware you’re running the risk against viruses and IP tracking and so on. There isn’t much of a “safe” way to do it. For music starting out, you can use a converter. I’ve used KZfaq to mp3 converters, either just by a website or an actual program for higher qualities. The sound quality is going to go through a blender sometimes so it’s good to go through Reddit threads that talk about them, but don’t worry about it too much. This is a great way to start out. For videos, my method started from way back when Tumblr used to share all these good drive files. It’s since fallen out of fashion (it’s rly hard to look up on tumblr/twitter) and people usually torrent, but the way I searched for these particular clips is “arcane episode x google drive” and forcing the search engine to have google drive in the results. Eventually I went through the usual sketchiness and got rewarded with files that weren’t sketchy and downloaded them. Pls pls pls make sure you have strong virus protection on your browser and computer itself. I’ve also torrented media, which is sometimes safer sometimes not, because at least people can comment that the file is good and you’ve seen lots of other people download it. If you turn hardware acceleration off on your browsers I think screen capture programs built in or third party can also just record your streams. I don’t have any particular sources to share other than to be careful. I may delete this comment after you see it so this advice doesn’t stay out there. ❤️

Just so you know, commenting to a creator comparing them to another person can open the possibility for who you’re speaking to to feel bad, especially when that creator might not know who you’re talking about. Still, I appreciate the comparison, their Rasputin video is great!

@@meganerdtm yes, I know it can be mean, but it was more of an honest joke, though I’ll now try and be a bit more constructive. So, I think the main thing is that this seems to need a bit more integration of sound effects from the show, which is pretty much what I meant. In other words: I’m a little concerned that this might not quite be transformative enough and I think that that could be fixed by making the song a bit more subtle and the sound effects more prominent. There, I fixed it!

I think there was a little bit of a disconnect here - my response being longer was not to make you feel as if you needed to write a longer reply, just that it can feel mean spirited, which you seemed aware of when you commented! :) I’m not really looking to be transformative when I make edits because I’m just making what I feel in the moment, so I’m not looking for constructive criticism at this time! I appreciate your concern for how it could be better however and I’ve known with already having reviewed my edit that there are certainly moments I would have used more sound effects in times where the lyrical meaning didn’t need to be conveyed as much. But I don’t think that it needs to be fixed, just that I can keep it in mind for the future! I hope this offers some clarity to why I reached out and it doesn’t feel like an attack on your comment! @@meganerdtm The longer reply thing was purely a joke, probably because of my enjoyment of videos from people like MauLer, and how he often calls himself the Longman and how I also somehow, by accident have a book titled Longman outside my bedroom. And when it comes to the concern of being transformative, it’s a bit more of legal thing, since this is actually a pretty good video, and that means that it will probably become pretty popular, in which case you might want to make sure that you can’t get copyright striked.
