ARCAS Guatemala Veterinary Program

2 жыл бұрынI got to attend ARCAS' 2 week veterinary program. Their main location is in Peten, Guatemala but they have a few other locations in Guatemala and Belize. We work alongside with volunteers doing husbandry and feedings, but also alongside veterinarians and interns from Guatemala City. It's a great way to learn about exotic animals and conservation but also meet people from around the world. The volunteer program is open to anyone year round and the veterinary program is specific to only veterinary students, usually in the summer months.

I love that you are so willing to be adventurous! You are getting experience that so many others would not even consider. I applaud you! I am only 3 minutes in and I already learned something about birds and their ability to be released based on exposure to human speech!! Very interesting. Conservation is soooooo important!

It is! So many people think it better to stick them in a zoo or "open a rescue" but sometimes, the beauty is releasing them and preserving the species in their natural state

Great video Britt. I admire your passion for being a vet and willing to do an externship in a Spanish speaking country. I find it so interesting to see all the different things you are learning and this would definitely be a plus for you where vet clinical skills are concerned. I think you would have a great advantage over a number of other vet students at SGU. Guatemala is really beautiful and I like that they tend to do things the natural way. They are very considerate about nature, the environment. I think some of the bigger countries can take a page out of their book where this is concerned. Looking forward to more videos about this place. Thanks for sharing.

I wish other bigger countries cared and valued the wildlife like here. I'm sure there are good people, just as theres bad people everywhere. But I do really like what they're doing here

It was $1500 US for the 2 weeks, housing and 3 meals/day included
