Thank you so much!for this video. Here at our Texas Archery club they have tried that technique but at a distance it is inconsistent. Well it will be lack of practice. We have only seen in the Caribbean a You Tuber Archer who uses that technique and shoots from a distance 20 meters and 30 meters and apparently it works for him. We have to try to practice more seriously. Thanks for making videos Monday.

Dual Fletch arrows, with left-offset, and left helical-twist, 4-5” long, moderate height are very predictable and accurate ate any distance. Plus, if the fletch is aligned with the nock string slot, they become very efficient for blind Nocking.

Mr. Hirmer! I just discovered your channel yesterday evening, I subscribed today. My wife and I enjoy your content and aproach to archery and history very much! It is so refreshing when we find someone whose talent overwhelms us, instead of the usual sensatiolanism and doctrinarism; a rare experience nowadays indeed! But please make your videos louder somehow, actually a lot louder. There is so much to learn from what you show and share, but it is really hard to hear what you say in a number of your videos - this one included (I double-checked, it isn't my laptop, on other youtube videos I have way more sound volume range). Greetings from Hungary, and keep safe!

String twisting with slav-draw will increase the power a bit, but it will also make your string oscillate more and result in poor arrow flight. Instead you want to have the hook in an angle; middle finger on the middle pad and ring finger on the distal pad (little finger where it reaches) and rotate your forearm when you release. You do not want preload it as a twist. It takes time to figure it out, but it will make your shot fast and clean. When I specifically work on my release, my thumb points downwards and touches my shoulder, and my fingers are flexed at the end point of the release. String twisting with slavic will also result in very uncomfortable calluses.

Just found out I've been shooting ottoman all these months, but I think I do it a bit different... I can easily hold 8 in my draw hand (4 between pinky and ring, 4 between ring and middle)and the shafts tuck in my armpit through the draw, so the arrowheads stick way out of the strings path... takes a bit of practice, but its fun.

2 fletched arrows with modified nocks helps a LOT to speed shoot, since you don't have to align the third feather. Armin, please do another video on this topic!

i shoot homemade crocked bamboo arrows with horrible fowl and crow fleshing , i shoot off the right side of the bow using a "pinch draw" (index finger above the arrow on the right side , middle finger below the arrow on the right side both somewhat laying on the arrow but still gripping the string, and thumb on the left side of the arrow gripping the arrow) i typically shoot 4-5 arrows at a time and hold them in my draw hand right above the fleshing(not the end by the knock) i tried string twist today , however i actually twist away from the bow... it increased arrow stability/acuracy . Thanks!

Ok so with the Slavic release you have the index finger over the arrow, so what is it with the Russian "dagger" technique? I've tried but can never understand what keeps in there. I've seen and commented on other videos where they shoot it really well but it's making even less sense the more I look into it. The draw, anchor and so forth. For example do you use the thumb somehow along with the fingers to keep the arrow down?

@@ArminHirmer yes they can be quivered right next to each other . I can fit twice as many in the quiver. Used large feathers and they where surprisingly accurate even though the feathers are amateurish with a slight helical twist 👍 They do rip the air quite loudly and slice your thumb if not enough string twist but they look good , go well and quiver compactly 🙂. Thank you for the education as always 🙏

Question about a thumb ring i got, its a bronze one with a lip on it, i ordered it and had my thumb sized by a jeweler, however i find my thumb in alot of pain after shooting around 50 arrows, with my thumb bleeding under the skin on the pad of my thumb and the knuckle very sore as well. Do i just need to train my thumb or is there something i can do to the ring?
