On point! The most manly thing is to not be insecure about how manly one have to be. My husband always has deodorant and perfume in the car. Before our wedding he got manicure. He cares about how he looks and finds pleasure in being put together. He is not ashamed of asking me for an opinion, not even when suddenly one of his friends, in my presence, proposes to go for a beer. He is always there for me during pregnancy. On the other hand, whenever I start being too dominating, he will let me know that he won’t accept being pushed around. This is what I consider a real man, nut truly - a real well-rounded person.

Reading the early chapters of Tom Bower's book, a particular sentence jumped out at me. It came as Thomas was talking about how he routinely did the lighting for MM's school plays, and how, on one occasion when MM didn't get the lead part, she shunned him because he wouldn't withdraw his help from the school. The sentence that made me pause stated that she was "insanely jealous" of whoever got that leading role. I don't know how old she was at the time - early teens, I'd imagine - but twenty-odd years on I don't think her "insane jealousy" regarding leading roles had changed much! Of all the negative mindsets to live with, jealousy must be one of the worst. No matter what you achieve; no matter what you have, contentment evades you because someone, somewhere, will always have more.

The podcast was apparently recorded well before Tom Bower’s book was released. She refers to herself being in Canada at the time and apparently it was done with the women in two different locations.

Indeed! She also repeated the debunked by him story with the P&G add, and she insulted and humiliated South Africa and its people directly and the RF indirectly. The podcast is used to "put straight things" that she feels that made her look a horrid person in the book (which, in my opinion, she is), because she cannot sue Tom Bower, as he has the proof for everything he wrote. I didn't listened to her podcast and I'll never will, as I don't want to increase the number of her listeners and I LOATHE her voice and her in general. Love your work, LBP, you are great and you make an amazing couple, keep doing what you do! It is much appreciated!

hi there! thanks for the comment and the support! definitely aware that not all Californians speak in that accent or that vocabulary, which is why I said Harry was personifying the stereotype (which is unfair to Californians as it isn’t an accurate portrayal of them). California seems great, would love to visit one day! As for woke, it’s an extreme. To us, it’s this new age attitude of everything being subjective, including the truth. There is no universal truth or reality to them; they all have “their truths”, which could also be lies, but they’re their “lived experiences” so they’re true enough to the individual. They’re also highly intolerant and offended by almost anything and anyone who doesn’t share their world view. At least, that’s our understanding of the term.

Hopefully this will help you out because you asked for some insight to the word ‘woke’ for some perspective. To many like yourself it is a way to express the want if equality, but I’m going to be blunt with you, it has been used as a tool to belittle others based on the hierarchy system that the woke believe in. It has become a system to use a victim narrative in order to coerce others in to force society to change for this individuals. In the last decade or so, the woke crowd have abused this power, it’s lost the value of wanting ‘equality’ and instead is looking for ‘equity.’ Two very different outcomes and two methods. Equality is about giving everyone the same opportunity, despite their background. It’s ultimately up to each individual to find a way to achieve their goals. The point is to eliminate obstacles to prevent others if possible to give every the fair chance. Equity is about wanting the same results, doesn’t matter how how people get to it, it’s about making sure that everyone ends up have the same outcome. You could have one individual over working to make up for the lazy person who doesn’t pull their weight, resulting in a system that supports an unequal society. It’s basically socialism in a nutshell. So the issue with the woke that I have with is that you got a group who cry fowl but never put in the work to achieve their individual success. It has become a tactic to bully anyone to submission and there’s no room for disagreements. If a person doesn’t conform to the woke ideology, they get blacklisted. There’s little room for any discussion, hence why it has become an ideology. One that doesn’t look at the big picture about how it is holding everyone back just to make up for the group of people who feel entitled to have what others have when they barely pitch in. Sorry if that is not an answer you might like to hear, I know you’re likely going to disagree and say I don’t know any better. I can tell you this, as a Californian to another, this movement has hurt more people than I think you understand. No one is treated as an individual, in fact, it encourages more division and segregation. The irony. It’s up to you if you don’t want accept this answer or not, but you seemed bothered no one gave you an answer of what is considered ‘woke.’ If people really want equality, they don’t insert different categories of the victim mentality into every discussion. A lot of people are sick of it. If you need a reference to look at why people are sick of it, study Markle herself. She has become a poster girl of the woke crowd perfectly. You might try to deny it, but her actions perfectly sums up how others view the woke crowd. And I’ve met quite a few who meet that description. My hope is that it’s likely you reject most of my comment that you do take it seriously. This is how the woke crowd have behaved in the last 10 years or so, and maybe if you pay attention you might understand how we got to that conclusion.

Californian here (SoCal), of course we all don’t speak like Rachel Ragland, but you and I both know there are enclaves within the state that are 'woke', vapid, vacuous, and vain. Not to mention entitled, egotistical, pretentious, and privileged. I think I hit the main characteristics but you get the point. Then the rest of the state gets painted with the same brush🙄

Far too many people have paid the price for MM's idea of "ambition". Leaving a trail of devastation in your wake, destroying other people as easily as if they are paper cups, caring so little about the harm you cause to anyone of any age - be that a 96yr old woman or a 3yr old little girl - that's not "ambition" as most people would understand it. If all women saw ambition through Markle's lens there would be very little love and compassion in the world. The tragic thing is that it absolutely did not have to be like this. She could have left the RF with Harry and achieved far more had she behaved decently, with dignity and with kindness. Markle should be held up as an example of how NOT to achieve your ambition.

The only phrase that comes to my mind is trophy wife to an older wealthy male.

The truth to such people is whatever it needs to be at that time. If the exaggeration/lie is required for their point to be made, then it is justified.
