James Cromwell has some range. I couldn't believe the same actor played Archie Bunker's work buddy and the aristocratic William Randolph Hearst in RKO 281.

That was during AITF last season. Arch discovered he was Jewish and he was asked to host a Hebrew wake in his honor.

I loved Stretch Cunningham. He was SOooooo funny!😂😂 And also, Boom Boom Turner played as Mrs. Loomis also in All for the Family. She said her real name was Mildred Turner.

Archie gave that woman the name, BOOM, BOOM. because of her LARGE chest...and EVERYONE calls her, BOOM, BOOM. except her mother. she calls her Mildred. LOL

I know this is a TV show with a fictional storyline, in which no matter how happily married a man may be, in real life one is always going to "look" at an attractive woman.

@@robertmasina7388 i disagree..... In a t.v. show.... the cosby.......in family matters...he stayed devoted.....in reality... I know 6 couples happily married...and never once looked at an attractive woman! Sorry these 6 men's eyes don't wonder!!!

@ruth. All the credit to the 6 that you know what you mentioned. What I was getting at is that it's the nature of a male a male to take a peek for a few seconds at an attractive woman. That doesn't mean one is cheating on their spouse. Now if one hits on another woman while married, that's a different story.

@@RegreviewsCarroll O'Connor was not in this or the next show because of a contract dispute with Norman Lear. Stretch Cunningham (James Cromwell) was originally introduced in the next episode as Plan B in case Carroll did not return to the show. In that scenario, Archie would then be killed off and replaced with Stretch, who would move in to help out his best friend's family. Norman Lear intended for the character to subsequently strike up a romantic relationship with Edith, then they would ultimately get married.
