people's voices tend to sound lower as a result of putting so much stress on their vocal chords, which can easily apply to all metal vocalists out there

+Blazed-Banana back in 2006 my band played a show with Architects in Belgium, still with their old singer. I remember sitting backstage, they're playing Nintendo DS (lol) and talking about wether they should continue school and get a degree or say fuck it and go all in for the band. Turned out for the best I guess since a few months later Ruin came out and the rest is history :)

looking back at photos and stuff off Tom now knowing he had cancer changes a lot like for example I think here he is very skinny and looks a bit ill although when I first watched this video I never quite noticed Tom you were an amaizing guitarist and songwriter and will be missed

I remember reading a comment where some said “Tom looks really I’ll” and architects actually replied saying he was on a juice cleanse. But it all does make sense these days. What a guitarist.

The first time I listened to this album, I thought it was incredible - without a doubt. But in hindsight, and seeing how much this record meant to everyone, from the fans, and to the band, has only amplified my feelings for this, and i'm sure i'm not the only one. I saw you guys touring this album, and ever since I've not been able to listen to it without genuinely feeling touched. Thank you for what you have produced, and what you will come to achieve going forward. I think everyone can agree that Tom would be inherently proud of you all. Thank you guys, Thank you Tom.

Here's a list of things that I am hoping to hear 1. Sam tries to do lows or some other type of vocal 2. Different guitar and bass tones 3. A deeper mix 4. Maybe a feature from a guest vocalist 5. Sweep picking or a lead guitar part once in a while 6. Bleh!

I remember seeing this video before Tom passed and thinking to myself how sickly he looked. At the time I didn't know he was facing cancer. I had a feeling he was sick because of how he looked. It really upset me that I was right in thinking something was wrong with his health.

R.I.P. Tom. Incredible love and respect for this band. I just discovered them about 4 months ago. I literally just found out about Tom passing last night. I went into tears. Am now. This band has changed my life. I love you guys and my heart goes out to you all and all the other fans that have tremendous love for this band.

when i return to this video.. and the others, it reminds me how much tom inspired me in a musical and human way. the way he speaks. the way of seeing things in life. he is'nt gone... actually he never left. i'd like to see it tin that way. i meditate a lot and i always trying to get the energy tom had. i and we and you brother, band family, fans and friends. we miss you everyday.

I am really looking forward to this album. Lost Forever is one of the best albums I have ever heard!!! And the production on it was just mind blowing. The tone of the guitars was just savage!

It is really awesome how Tom achieve that tone with a low tuning in a 6 string, don't get me wrong, i think in this album some songs are in Drop F#, so it is pretty amazing.

I'm assuming Tom was using a baritone guitar, as well. The neck's got a 27" scale length (as opposed to something like 25.5"), and that coupled with a nice thick set of strings can make you hit notes almost a full octave lower than a standard 6-string guitar. I'm pretty sure Dave Young in the Devin Townsend project does something similar, actually. For some of the really low tuned stuff, he's playing a six string.

From the little I've heard, this album sounds fucking ridiculous. The song(s), emotion and production just sounds so on point. The sheer tone and energy is truly fucking amazing. Well done guys, been following you and seeing you at shows for ages. Can't wait. This is honestly what I imagine the apocalypse would sound like.
