Shame the homeless can’t get place like this to keep them off the streets there is enough student accommodation and co living accommodation shadowing Dublin city people need more social housing and affordable housing not more student accommodation government giving green lights to build these places should hang there heads in shame while homeless people die on the streets a lot of derelict sites and buildings around Dublin city where we will see more student accommodation built but no social housing for people who badly need it

People are on the streets not because of a lack of accommodation but because of mental health problems. Why do people still not understand the causes of homelessness!?!?

@@colors6692 not everyone that’s homeless is on the streets because they suffer with there mental health I’ve seen A lot of people homeless on streets because they couldn’t afford the rent I know a woman who had a job and she was living in her car did delivery driver for curry shop

@@brenlindalinda2578 90% are as a result of mental illness in which addiction is a major component. As a result of these maladies they are unable to maintain a home. Loss of earnings or anti-social behaviour and typically both lead to home loss as a result of mental illness/addiction. So the root cause is not, in the majority of cases, a lack of housing/affordable housing. In the case of the woman you know living in her car and working as a delivery driver, she will be ok in the long run as she has the mental facilities to get her life in order. The 90% of homeless people on the other hand do not possess the mental facilities to get their lives in order. In short acknowledging the root cause is the place where the social services need to invest in and from there the problem of homelessness gets sorted as well. Do you remember a few years ago there was a man who was homeless and died on the streets just outside of the Dail. People were crying out that he should have been given a NAMA house...turns out he had a home that his parents left him but he could not for mental health reasons stay there. He seemed to prefer the streets than a confined space. Very common in the United States where they have a huge population of war veterans who live homeless and most have trauma issues from was that do not enable them to function in society. Having, paying for and maintaining a home requires a fairly high degree of mental health/ Good day!
