Probably because during his streams going Hackers was basically ALWAYS a mistake. I think I saw him use them 5-6 times and it worked only once and functionally worked as a 'win more' option. He was already beating the giants, but by putting hackers on them he took control of them which helped his only slightly superior frontline, and if they survived they put out a LOT of damage.... also helped that the enemy upgraded them to EXPLODE on death so he now didn't have them explode in the back to kill the flank defense and instead HE had suicide giants for if those rhinos made it to the enemy frontline.

I don't think you're wrong, but it's worth saying that crawlers have a good place in the army layout as they are the only unit in the formation that can ignore shields, which is a necessary counter to shielded marksman

@@RedFragmentation Beagle's Twitch chat has a running joke of Flank Melting Points. Approximate Context, Beagle was playing a 2v2 Game. During the final round. Beagle was planning out, asking himself how the enemy will react, expecting some counter to crowds. They dropped a Melting Point only the flank, to Beagle's amusement. It died horribly, Beagle won his side of the 2v2, but lost the 1v1 after his ally was beaten. Chat made it a running joke that the distraction melting point secured a strategic victory.

I do think that, and Wasps in general, sounds like a better reaction than Stangs, for sure.

EMP works with splash. EMP does have to punch through shields before they effect a target, and photon makes you EMP immune. EMP shuts down all tech, but doesn't disable items. (Like the nanorepair item for example.) It shuts down any target that takes damage from it, with the unique exception of linked units. A group of linked sledgehammers for example, if you hit one they aren't all EMP'd, because the link is shut down before damage would be distributed. Duration varies by tech. EMP is a great counter to several techs in addition to it's snare effect. Things like armored and regeneration are shutdown, as are things like multi-beam, extended range, missile interception, anti-air etc. This is why EMP Wasps can almost ignore Anti-Air Arclights, as once they EMP the Arclight, it can't shoot at them anymore. Hope that clears up EMP for you.

Heavy hacker sounds pretty smart if it's screened, because the flanks are localized smaller battles a single hacker can turn things around way harder than if they had to try and contend with a whole frontline. That's a pretty smart way to do it I think!

That'd probably work but you're investing like, 800 resources to deal with 400 worth.

Someone invested like 2 turns worth of resources into defending their flank in response to my Arcjet in the last tournament and it allowed me to cleanly win on every other front.

@@brianjaehyunlee aye, but i did say it is "dumb eneugh" to work. though that mostly depends on wether the oponent has anything to deal with whatever units of your counter survive the flank engagement. example, if the fortress survives, it can still cause some decent damage or tank a few shots before it goes down. add something like fang summoning and or shields on to it and it may just be worth it (assuming that upgrade has already been bought in a previos round) but that is ultimatly just speculation on my part ^^ im still fairly new to the game and have been playing mostly against AI to get a feel for unit composition.
