Arctic Air vs Blu Breeze Review | Testing As Seen on TV Products
Here's my review of the Blu Breeze personal air conditioning unit. I've compared it to the new Arctic Air.
About Arctic Air Arctic Air is an evaporative air cooler that allows you to create your own personal climate. The whisper-quiet fan and soothing night light make it perfect to use throughout the night for a comfortable sleep. The built-in LED mood light can be set to any of its 7 color option, set to color-cycle mode or turned off with the touch of a button. Running other air conditioners all day long can cost a lot of money and take up so much space. Some of them even have to vent out a window, making it very inconvenient. Arctic Air sleek compact design fits nicely on your desk, nightstand or coffee table - wherever you need it! It’s great for dens, reading nooks, work, dorm rooms, offices, home offices, campers, work spaces, benches, basements, garages and more.
It’s lightweight & even convenient for travel! Great for outdoors too. And it’s not just safe to use but energy efficient. This personal space air cooler actually cools the air around you, where you need it most, while using the size and power consumption of a small fan.
What Arctic Air Claims:
- Personal Space Cooler that Lets You Create Your Own Personal Comfort Zone
- Cools, Humidifies, and Purifies for Better Air!
- Easy-Fill Water Tank Lasts Up to 8 Hours! Freon Free, Energy Efficient & Eco-friendly
- Compact & Powerful & Ultra-Quiet Operation
- Built-In LED Mood Light - 7 Different Colors with Color-Cycle Option!

About the Blu Breeze When you're stuck in a spot that always feels hot, turn on the Blu Breeze the personal portable air conditioner. Blu Breeze creates your own personal comfort zone that cools you down. The compact, lightweight, and portable air conditioner is perfect to stay cool at the pool, in hot steamy bathrooms, sweltering kitchens, your workbench, and even in your bedroom while you're sleeping. Thanks to a whisper-quiet fan, the Blu Breeze won't disturb others around you making it perfect to use at the office, too. Using Blu Breeze is so simple: just add water to the evaporative filter, then turn it on and the heat is gone. Why waste money air conditioning the entire house when you can create a cool oasis right where you are? The secret is Aqua-Cool Technology: The fan draws dry, stale air through Blu Breeze's evaporative filter and instantly transforms the hot air into a refreshing breeze. Best of all, you can take it with you wherever you go! Blu Breeze works on electricity, USB power, or 4 AA batteries.
- Evaporative filter draws dry, stale air and transforms it into a cool, refreshing breeze
- Compact, portable and lightweight fits on any desk or countertop
- Easy to use just add water, turn it on and the heat is gone
- Works with electricity, USB power or 4 AA batteries
- Create your own personal comfort zone in seconds

I agree with you on the water leak. BTW, a swamp cooler is the old fashioned AC in the South; blowing a box fan over melting ice in a pan. Hella dangerous but it was air conditioning before there was air conditioning. Thank you for testing these!

Picked up the Citus Portable Mini Air Condition from Amazon. It was $39.87 and it doesn't have filters, you just pop open the tank in the back and fill it about half way with water. It has a normal 12 vdc input with a plug (not USB or battery powered). Used it for the last three days pretty much all day. Water lasts about 3 to 4 hours before you have to refill it and I have put in ice as well as water. The fan seems quieter than the fans in your videos and it is cook to watch the water vapor shoot out while it is running. Doesn't cool a whole room but it does a decent job just sitting next to me while I work on the computer. I had a large cheap Desk fan I was using and this fan seems to be more powerful even though it is smaller. I thought it was worth the $$$ for what I needed it to do.

Swamp cooler, as I understand it, means that it cools things off by causing water to turn into water vapor or steam using the ambient heat of an area, thus making the area cooler. This kind of cooler is pretty useless when the humidity is high though. If you want to keep the portable AC reviews going, you can try the Zero Breeze.

Having one of these units and one that I built myself (for cooling a larger room) I used them during hurricane season last year when we did not have power they did tend to work to keep the rooms cooler especially when it was in the mid 90's here in Florida. The small unit was good to have in front of you as a personal cooler, and it did seem to help me with the heat. It did not cool the room, nor did I expect it too. The larger (swamp cooler) unit that I made worked a lot better for cooling the room. I converted an old box fan to run on a 12V motor and used it was a 12V water pump to supply the water to the unit to circulate over the filter.

Swamp cooler means it uses water to cool down a room. They aren't nearly as effective as a true air conditioner. Air conditioners use liquid refrigerant, have a compressor, and a condenser. Swamp collers do not.

I used to have a contraption that went around my neck and it was a personal air conditioner by Sharper Image. I just googled it and I see the price for the one I had hasn't come down at all (and I bought mine almost 20 years ago) but Homedics makes them too for only $30. I had a huge one of these that cooled my house in Tucson. The key to their working is that the air needs to be dry. This won't cool the air one bit, if the humidity is above a certain level. The principle is solid (if you're in a hot, dry place) however the execution of both of these products is a bit questionable.

Kyrunya i think its because they use water to “cool” the air. The moisture cools your skin. BUT it you are in a humid area they will not work because there is already too much moisture in the air.

@kathleenmoritz108
@kathleenmoritz108 6 жыл бұрын
Jay Adams yes, an evaporative cooler or swamp cooler or this little cooler would work better with lower humidity. The problem with using them in high humidity is that the air can only hold onto so much moisture, once it does then the cooling effect will no longer work. In Vivian's case there was too much humidity to have any cool air. As you saw the humidity level went up to 50 but the temp stayed at 81. At that point your just going to feel hot & sticky. The best way to test this theory is to have a glass of ice water on the table. If the glass sweats then you'll know that the air can't take anymore moisture. Sorry for going on. I live in southern California and only have a evaporative cooler {swamp cooler}. It works great most of the time.

I know with my Arctic Air at 70% humidity the output air will be at least 12f degrees cooler than room temp which is around 90F degrees. Of course with lower humidity the output air will be cooler (I've seen around a mid 20F degree difference from room temp air. That Blu breeze is not as good as the Arctic Air, it pushes less air, the filter isn't as big, the more air it pushes it'll cool better, the bigger the filter is it'll cool better.

I have used my Arctic Air unit for a few years now with no problem whatsoever!. I love it!! You are supposed to wet the filter first, then put the water in. You are not supposed to pick up these units and waive them around with water in them. Read the directions & it should work great!

A friend gave me an Arctic Air cooler as a gift. In 3 days, the lights quit working and in a week and a half it quit working...and I got an electrical burning smell coming from it. Don't waste your money on them. ------------------------------------------------------- BTW.. I built my own air cooler. 1. styrofoam cooler (appox $3.00) and I cut two holes in one side. I made the holes the size that a water bottle snugly fit in and I cut water bottles top and bottom cut off to make tubes...to help direct air. 2. the lid to the cooler wasn't flat, so I replaced it with a piece of thick cardboard and cut out a square, just under 12 inches. 3. I had saved various plastic bottles and filled them 2/3 with water and froze them. Then I put half of the bottles in the cooler, put the cardboard top with the hole in it on it...put a 12 inch box fan facing down, over the hole...and turned it on. Cool Air. : ) It will last about 3 hours before having to switch out bottles. ~4... I later bought an 8 inch high velocity fan to put in front of the tubes to push the cool air out a bit further out into the room and disperse the air into wider area as the tubes were more 'pinpoint' at where the air was going. I already had the 12 inch box fan and the 8 inch one cost me $15.00

+Jeremiah, what? Air conditioner uses the outside air which cleans it and gives off cold air? Air conditioners are much like the way your refrigerators or water fountains work, to keep the food cold or provide cold water, with the use of a condenser and refrigerants to produce cold air. "When hot air flows over the cold, low-pressure evaporator coils, the refrigerant inside absorbs heat as it changes from a liquid to a gaseous state. To keep cooling efficiently, the air conditioner has to convert the refrigerant gas back to a liquid again. To do that, a compressor puts the gas under high pressure, a process that creates unwanted heat. All the extra heat created by compressing the gas is then evacuated to the outdoors with the help of a second set of coils called condenser coils, and a second fan. As the gas cools, it changes back to a liquid, and the process starts all over again. Think of it as an endless, elegant cycle: liquid refrigerant, phase conversion to a gas/ heat absorption, compression and phase transition back to a liquid again."

I enjoyed your video. I watched other videos on the Arctic Air and some of the people said that they were defective right out of the box. To tell if you have a good one, after you add water, the filter should become wet. if it is still dry, it is defective. Maybe that is why this unit was not working as well. Keep up the great videos. Thank you sincerely.

I was thinking about getting it and I'm sure glad I watched your review on it plus the Blue Breeze. Both of them was very informative and I agree with you on both price points; way too expensive and, for them both to leak especially around the power source is dangerous indeed. Thanks for reviewing both the Artic Air and Blu Breeze; it helped me decide on not buying either for safety and price. Peace and love :-)

Yarn addict aka K lo Swamp coolers (i.e. evaporation coolers) create a cool feeling by letting the water evaporate into the air. These devices work best with hot dry air that is starving for water. Think Arizona or New Mexico. Haiti is a very humid country. This thing won't work well (or at all) in Haiti. Sorry.
@DarkestDeeds
@DarkestDeeds 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, don't bother taking one to Haiti with you. The humidity will make this not work at all. You're going to want a fan instead to help your own personal evaporative cooling (called sweating.) And lots of water.

"swamp cooler" A house-sized one of these evaporative coolers, that you feed regular tap water (thus bacteria and molds can grow on/in it as it is ran pretty much 24/7 in the summer in hot climates due to its slower cooling nature - still better than nothing but that's about it).

temperature of the water wouldn't matter any for how it is working - it has to do with humidity that it is adding to the air around it.....putting ice in there if it was crushed would probably make it work less, cuz it needs good supply of liquid water that it can turn to vapor...

I must disagree with you on this point. The temp of the water does make a difference. Now you could not put ice cubes or ice blocks in a cooler on the roof but a window mount you can. I have had several portable coolers and most are made where you can put in ice before filling with water, as the water goes in it melts some of the ice making the water colder. As time go on the ice starts to melt supplying more ice cold water. You are right about the humidity, they don't use the in states where the humidity is high, like the east cost, that is why a lot of people never heard of swamp coolers. They are better for you then air conditioners as AC takes moisture out of the air and swamp coolers put moisture into the air. To much AC and you get a dry throat from lack of moisture where swamp coolers you do not.
@madmax2069
@madmax2069 5 жыл бұрын
Actually putting ice in the water does work with these systems, you just have to start out with a dry filter. She was doing it with an already wet filter that contained room temp water, it would have to evap the water in the filter before it pulled up more, so by then the ice water is going to be room temp by the time it gets pulled up. Now an active systems (one with a water pump) it will work with a wet filter because it actively pulls the ice water from the tank and pours it on top of the filter, this is how she was treating it (the one in the video, and the Arctic Air are not active systems). But yes, humidity plays a major roll in how well these will cool the air. The start working at 70% and lower humidity levels, at 70% humidity in a 90F degree room I've seen at least a 12F drop in temp, with ice water starting with a dry filter I've seen around a 17F difference.

I've seen these things on the market for the past few years and haven't had an ounce of faith in them being able to actually cool down a room, a closet, a inside a drawer much less a person. But I haven't ever used one. So I just saw ad pop up for one (Artco) and I just followed a google link to a "DON'T BUY BEFORE YOU WATCH" review VIDEO of the product, which was clickbait for basically a commercial for how to use it. So I immediately feel like my assumptions about them, were valid (since they're doing click bait ads and all), and I says to myself, "self, this is one of those products you need yo girl Vivian to review, cuz she'll be real about this shit. She'll tell you what you need to know" No sooner than I thought it, I glanced at the related videos bar and, to my delight, saw this video. Then I thought to myself, "Self, yo gurl came thru," and I, myself, agreed. Vivian... mah gurl.
