This footage of a heavy cargo drop followed by Airborne Soldiers jumping at the Deadhorse drop zone for Arctic Pegasus 2014. This mobility exercise enables the military to build proficiency in Arctic Airborne operations in extreme cold-weather conditions. Arctic Pegasus 2014 is a Joint-Interagency Military training exercise held above the Arctic Circle, with a goal to enhance U.S. Army Alaska's mobility and operability in arctic conditions.
AiirSource covers military events and missions from the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

Been on a few of these drops in a C-130 with Special Forces just inside the Arctic Circle in Norway back in late 60s. Those were some fun days.

This brings back memories. I went to Northern warfare training center in fort greely Alaska. Those vehicles are called anfibious susves. They were put out first on the heavy drop. Then we jumped out with Snowshoes, and weapons. That was over 40 years ago. Time flies.

Do you remember how many men died ? They had one in 1955 and the planes started going down in the USA, across Canada and finally in Alaska.

The look from the guy at 3:00 is CLASSIC!! “GET ME OFF OF THIS FUCKING AIRCRAFT!!” This was some GREAT editing. Anyone that’s DONE this knows that they went HOURS without going to the bathroom, doing an in-flight rig (because they entered the A/C WITHOUT their gear on), getting JMPI’d, waiting for the equipment to go out and THEN you get to jump and getting the 100+ pounds off of your back and legs!!

I remember the C130 jumps, if you didn't have a strong exit, you would hit the side of the plane, I have heard many people bouncing off the side. No idea what it’s like now but back in the ‘60’s when stationed in Alaska they expected soldiers to SKI with those Damn boots ! They kept your toes from Freezing but had virtually Zero traction on any type of snow. Hard to believe they’re using (Mickey) “Mouse” (VB) boots still today ! (Given the appearance and sole tread, etc.)

@@portjanka I'm was'nt born in Alaska, however I've spent almost 40yrs, including some of my military time in the " Great State" , again that's usually how I & others wore "BUNNY BOOTS"! Yes I know it sounds weird but some hockey players do the same all the time. Now mind you there may be regulations re: the use of bunny boots currently but that's how we rolled in the 70s-80s!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
