THE GUARDIAN - As new album AM is released, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner tells Harriet Gibsone about his 50 Cent fantasies, and drummer Matt Helders explains why the band have gone 'sexy' after resisting the urge for so long. The arrangements and production of several new tracks are 'inspired by the architecture of R&B', says Turner 'but I wouldn't want to live there'.

Its incredible how Alex is so orally weak talking with someone in a conversation, but, at the same time, he has a perfect, impeccable diction, when he is singing. For example, when he sings at a rapid pace he does not leave a word or a syllable behind (Teddy Picker, R u Mine, This House is a Circus, etc.). In terms of diction, he is one of the best vocalists i´ve ever heard in my life. Its kind of ironic.

Honestly, I think he is high as hell. If you look at the most recent interview with him (the BBC one), he talks way better and more interestingly, but in this interview he just looks high out of his damn mind

@@jooolius I think that's because he became a better speaker overall. If you watch any of his interviews before 2018 he's the same way. I don't think he's high I think that's just how he talks.

The music industry is a scary place, I can’t name one person who doesn’t do drugs or at least smokes/drinks alcohol to get over the pressure and the stress. I love the Monkeys and i hope Alex is taking care, he looks like he’s on cocaine in most interviews because he wasn’t like this in earlier interviews, although some people say he’s just awkward, y’know?

Lizzie Wunn it’s just his way of talking, he think a lot before speaking and that explains why he’s such a great lyricist. He has also mentioned that if he didn’t make it with the band, he would’ve done a major on literature or something like that

Bloody hell, what is everyone on about with this interviewer? Just because she's talking in a low volume, and wears rather arty clothes doesn't mean she's too shy and doesn't deserve to interview them. Plus maybe it's just hear rather posh accent? Then again, every accent sounds posh compared to Mats's and Alex' Yorkshire. Just leave her alone.

They're almost whispering throughout the interview. I think it's it's an efect from the interviewers quiet, innocent nature, you can see how Alex picks it up and mirrors that.. a thing I think a lot of artists temd to do

He is such an introvert you can tell. As an introvert, getting out words, although had gotten better over the years, is still kinda difficult. That's why he doesn't have social media, and he barely feature in any of AM's music videos (except some) It's all Matthew :)))

He obviously isn't stoned or drunk. Just chaneling his inner awkward lad which he really is. Even during concerts he feels a bit awkward every now and then. I mean, them dance moves he has... he looks like any awkward guy trying to dance and act a bit sexy. And in all fairness, it works, haha.

Well, I am too a massive fan, man :) and I love every aspect of their career, because I'm a fan of various music genres and I can tell you, this album is in no way boring, maybe just uninteresting for someone who isn't up to the genre, but it's actually got the most exciting beats I've ever heard of them.
