Marcus, I’ve got a great band that I have just rediscovered. Underrated Gem of a band that had a UK Number 1 album back in 1997. A Brit pop classic. But for me I like most their 2nd album ‘Six’released the next year in 98. The leap from the first album to this in the space of one year is pretty crazy. It kind of killed their momentum in popularity because they went ‘BritProg’( not really a thing but on this album it is). I think it was ahead of its time and people just didn’t get it back then.Not said the bands name yet shit lol MANSUN. Love this band. Recommend ‘Being a girl’ or ‘six’ Album versions not singles, definitely not single because they’re about a third the length. Anyway great reactions, you have already checked out some awesome bands. 🤘🏼

Marcos just discovered your channel! Your reviews are awesome! I have a recommendation myself by a very underrated but amazing artist known as Ezra Furman. He is not devoted to a specific genre, instead he jumps around from indie pop, to rock (indie or not) and punk. The song I suggest you listen to, cause it represents both his songwriting and more alternative and punk style, is “Suck the blood from my wound”. Another awesome song you can start with is “I want to be your girlfriend” which is more pop but is also amazing and means a lot to the transgender community. Choose whichever of the two seems more appealing to you. Honestly there are a dozen other awesome songs of her I could recommend but there is no point in overwhelming you.

I highly recommend No Buses and Despair in the Departure Lounge from their EP "Who the Fuck are Arctic Monkeys?". Also Dancing Shoes.

'Her name isn't Rio' is of course a reference to the Duran Duran song 'Rio', they are taking the micky out of the song and the classic line - 'Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand' - kinda juxtaposing with the grimy vibe of a northern English nightclub. Arctic Monkeys have several surreptitious references to Duran Duran - a little snide but at the same time kinda paying homage. They also hook back via the name Duran Duran to the movie Barbarella which featured the evil scientist of the name, and of course the lovely young Jane Fonda.
