Agreed - this stuff is so much more accessible than the ocean fishing videos. I feel like I can really go out and do this myself, and get my kids interested as well.

Honestly would love to see taku use the feather boa to make a soup using it instead of kombu. Would definitely watch that... and probably get some miso soup to eat while I watch.

I love foraging videos like this one. Seaweed, eel, mussels, clams, crabs, snails, all that stuff. It's always beautiful out there in the tidal zone.

Taku. You're not supposed to cook "Turkish Washcloth". As a kid, my mother prepared it as a salad. Cut it into 1/4" strips, add diced tomatoes, finely chopped green onions, and grated ginger. Add soy sauce, vinegar, and a little water. Toss and keep chilled. Texture is like crunchy rubber bands. Unique but refreshing. Try it!

Thank you for the great video Taku! Turkish washcloth baby leaves are crunchy and more pleasant to eat when they are raw, the bigger ones are rubbery.

I love foraging a bunch of different seaweeds and then making some miso soup with all the different types. Whatever I don’t eat fresh, I dehydrated and store in vacuumed jars. Mavericks is a good place to forage a bunch of different types.

This is what seperates your channel from others! I for one, enjoy your forage videos! Sea lettuce is sold as salad in Sushi restaurant and Costco, love it. I wish I knew how to prepare it! I'm sure the seaweeds would be good in tacos and noodles!!!

in an earlier episode, taku recommended a book called the sea-foragers guide to the northern california coast...upon that, i found it on amazon and immediately bought it...excellent resource...very surprised at the amount of forage-able foods are available...

You should do a cookbook. You could accompany it with you tube vids. People like precise recipes, and a video to show will probably only help. People buy cookbooks all the time for people already on TV

Thanks for telling us about the different seaweeds you found, what Not to harvest in CA and letting us know we need a fishing license. I randomly brought home kelp from the beach to but I never seriously harvested. Now I know i'l need a fishing license and other stuff. Thanks for eating on camera, including mistakes, and giving suggestions. It helps me learn about what to do.
