I gotta say I REALLY enjoyed this guys, you two are so easy to listen to and it's just like chillin with mates talking real and having a laugh. I listened while walking the dog like a podcast. Really hope you both get the time to do more of these, I like hearing your thoughts on current events like the A.I etc. I'm so used to hearing a certain narrative that's just spewed crap that people hear and repeat, whereas you both actually know how to think for yourselves and express an opinion no matter how you think others will take it. Spot on guys :)

Considering how monotonous camera review channels on youtube have become, its kind of strange that not more creators simply turn fully contrarian like that camera conspiracy channel and just shit on every single new piece of kit that comes out. At least that has some entertainment value. Also cheers for these chats, they're mint. Keep it up!

I guess the majority of people who watch a camera review are in the market for a new camera and want solid information to help them make the decision. Are there really people out there watching reviews of products they already know that they aren’t buying for entertainment when there are almost unlimited talented indie film makers uploading 100’s of hours of well crafted short and full length films written and produced specifically to entertain, and are struggling to get views?
@b00ty
@b00ty 18 күн бұрын
@@PippetWhippet I get your point, but those things are not mutually exclusive - porque no los dos? I love video art, cinema, indie short film - and youtube video essays. I'm also into the buying and selling camera gear for the fun of it, and I'm fascinated by the process of deprecation, and seeing where the valuation of gear lands when it hits the used market. So I watch some of these review channels to keep up with whats new, and whether it actually brings any value to market. Thats why I think more variation in the reviewer space would be nice, and I appreciate ie camera conspiracies' take, because he keeps the critical thinking hat on even if its just to rip all the kit.

Regarding storing client files, I also keep two copies of the files stored in two different locations. With a third copy available online; usually it's just the final versions or working drafts for active projects. Once a quarter, I consolidate 5+ year old client files where I delete low-rated, unused raw files or original clips. Usually frees up more than half the original size of the folder. Currently, I've got about 80TB of client files. I replace the storage devices (NAS RAID arrays) every 5 years to upgrade to more storage and to minimize potential hardware failures.

Somehow or another I inadvertently stepped in to this camera review quagmire a few years ago when I was in the market for a new camera. At first I thought I was getting information which could help me decide which camera to consider and which cameras to avoid. But I quickly ascertained these 'camera reviews' were nothing but either the 'brand bias' or 'brand hating' opinions and rants of people with hardly any real photography skill, talent and experience. I've watched too many 'reviews' where the person talks on and on about a sophisticated camera and then shows pictures which look as if they were made with a Kodak Instamatic! Amateurs trying to make KZfaq income by talking about cameras and photography.

I really enjoy these sessions with both of you. Great stuff! Regarding AI and news, there is the Content Authenticity Initiative which is an open industry standard for content authenticity and provenance. It has been implemented (with a chip I believe) on the Leica M11-P, and Sony, Canon and Nikon are in the process of adopting it (some Sonys already have it now with a firmware update).

The issue is not the cost of all the fancy trips, great hotels, good dinners, free equipment, etc.. It is more that if you criticize a product, then they won't give you the next product to review. That in turn means that you will have a big competitive disadvantage in the KZfaq world. In fact, you may not be able to do any more kit reviews, at least from that producer. So it is either "review kindly" or do not review at all. If one wants more unbiased reviews, one need to look at the KZfaqrs who only review equipment they have bought themselves and used for a long time, and who are not "married" to any particular brand. If someone is e.g. a " Fuji ambassador" or whatever, they will obviously be biased.

Question; how many really bad products are there still around? I find most bigger brand products to be simply different levels of excellent. Then there simply are features, like the focus system Sony first got perfected; and Canon did in the generation before that. Thanks for all the great videos.

To add to the devaluing topic, its exactly why I'll upgrade to either a 5d mk3, a 6 yr older 6d or similar age 6d mk2 from my little 200d. For what i do and what makes sense, those 2 cameras are better bang for buck into full frame than spending $6k Aus for just a body when i can get either of those for under $1k Aus and use the rest on lenses or in my case 1 excellent one for nightscapes

sometimes I really like to waste time on tik tok and there is a lot of nice stuff, but the thing I really hate are photographers making 5 second videos where they want to appear like they can do a great expensive ad photo in 5 minutes, it's dumb because it makes look like the photographers job an easy thing, you can be a super genius, but if you make it look like you can do a perfect photo 5 min you will never get a lot of cash :)

Wonderful, as usual. Only one comment: the guest seems not that knowledgeable about MACs. Having used all three of MAC, Windows, and Linux, no comparison and the issues mentioned never had or known anybody who had. Not saying doesn’t happen, but the guest may want to be less assertive about issues (said as a computer geek). But to each his/her own.

here is a review for ya........People obsesed with gear are generally lousy Photographers........ Relevant photographers are too busy working and developing a style to talk about cameras excessively.. if you find yourself confusing how good your images might be in relation to the gear you get, you are officially lost and the only transcendence of your efforts will be the bank account of the people who sell you stuff.
