I think I’d rather have a tooth extraction if it’s towards the back instead of a root canal. Root canals could bring problems later on

It's kind of pointless to go through all that trouble to save a dead tooth. Eventually it's going to break and be pulled out.

i would NEVER agree to "root canal" Please pull the darn thing. And i question most of the remedy procedures by any person trained in today's medical fields. Money is the motivator. ( Had a lesion removed. MD called and we met: melanoma. he then began to frighten me about a possible outcome. Scheduled for WIDE EXCISION on upper right arm which also means huge rectangle of my skin from other area. Took my slides to a TOP DOC in chicago pigmented lesion Center ***where the bad MD served his residency, and they told me: "Oh, we wouldn't have done a wide excision like that, they got it ALL WITH THE BIOPSY. That is what MY SLIDES TOLD THIS DOC!! great. trust crushed for ever. never trust again. money money money I have this HUMUNGOUS hole in upper arm -with an ugly graft - where you can see the contours of the fat tissue around the huge scar and the muscle. Oh God. why did I trust that awful md? He was eventually sued out of business, the town in Indiana, etc for pulling off unecessary dangerous surgeries.) NEVER SEE A PLASTIC SURGEON TO DO A MOLE REMOVAL.

I have an odd swelling in my molar on the lower side! How can I tell if it’s an infection if there is no toothache in that tooth and nada coming out (except for blóòd) when trying to pop it with a needle? I used sharp mini-scissors about ten days ago as I had a small piece of peanut stuck in there (because it’s a half-broken molar) and a bit of blóòd came out and there was some on the mini-scissors too, and after a few days I noticed that it started getting more and more swollen, and, I had the same thing occurring more than a decade ago when I did the same thing and got an actual infection, which was so unbearable, that I had to get a RC in that other molar that was on the upper side, but, this time there is no toothache in the broken molar (that’s on the lower side) at all, plus I washed the mini-scissors like 8 times with Cif and mineral water before using it when that piece of peanut got stuck in there, so, I don’t even understand how could it be an infection this time, unless I have some serious allergy to iron and most other metals that would actually cause an infection, because I don’t even get infections easily, like, I have never had any other infections before, except for that infected molar over a decade ago! So how can I know if this is an infection? Because I cannot even go to the dentist this time, and when I tried to pop it three times on three different days with a needle only some blóòd came out! How can I get it to pop if there isn’t anything coming out, except for blóòd, and, could this type of swelling be caused by anything else that isn’t an infection? I’ve been trying to get a diagnosis, because I still don’t understand how could this be an infection since I washed the mini-scissors many times, so if it is an infection, it must have been triggered by some sort of metal allergy, if that is possible, I don’t know, because both times something like that occurred there was a sharp metal object (mini-scissors) involved that wasn’t made out of stainless steel, just iron-based alloy probably, and I seem to have a sensitivity to most metals, as I would also get allergic reactions when wearing earrings made of iron / copper etc! Does anyone know if metals like iron / copper etc can cause a different type of infection like that? I think I am going to start taking Amoxicillin antibiotics tomorrow because I have enough of those to last me at least 14 days! But, since some doctors say that it must also be drained, does anyone know what would be the best way to drain it, and should I use something to take away a bigger part of that ‘gummy’ tissue inside the broken molar, so that it can be drained? Technically, I could order all the extra tools needed to do this at home, and I even have some dentistry tools from previous orders, because of my current situation, because I cannot go to the dentist, and I cannot find any dentist that could accept to come and drain it at home! I have been trying to get someone to ask a dentist what could this be, but, anyway, if anyone has more info on this and knows similar situations and can give some answers, one should let me know! I think it’s been more than ten days, maybe even two weeks, since it started, but there is still no ache in that tooth at all, and even when I tried to push it a few days ago there still wasn’t a true ache or an unbearable ache, just a bit of discomfort, so that’s why I cannot understand how can an infection not come with ache, if it’s an infection, because an infection normally comes with real unbearable ache that gets so unbearable when not standing up, but I don’t have it this time! By the way, on the left side I also have a molar or maybe a wisdom tooth, that is broken with a hole in it that kept getting bigger as I chewed mostly on that side over the past years, since the other molar that’s on the right side got broken after trying to chew some candy that was harder than rocks, though I think it has always had a small hole in it, but I don’t know what exactly caused that small hole or if it just grew that way with a small hole that got bigger, but, that one on the left side is actually very sensitive, so every time I have something sweet I get an ache in that tooth, but, in the broken molar that’s on the right side I don’t get an ache after eating sweets, so I don’t think it has reached the nerve!

Root canal removal only removes the bacteria in the tooth, not the tissues around it, so eventually you may have to have another root canal removal or lose the tooth because the tooth is now dead, that's why no more pain. It just buys a little time for the tooth.

I had a lot of pain in my front tooth. Dentist thought might be trama to the tooth caused by my teeth grinding at night, or due to an infection. I took antibiotics, and the pain in the tooth and the pain above the tooth disappeared, and it’s been two weeks now with no pain. I’m scheduled for root canal in two months.

@@sl4983 it was a strange case. The infection went away, but another X-ray three weeks later showed significant bone loss around the tooth whereas earlier X-rays showed very little bone loss. However, couple months later most of the bone around the tooth had regenerated, so they could ho ahead with the root canal and putting the permanent filling inside the tooth. DR. you are assuming the worst case scenario. I have experienced two gum boils at the root area and I used an insulin needle, ramming it into the pocket of puss and blood, sucking it out and I healed completely without any additional pain or swelling. True, IF IF the infection is within the tooth, what you state might be true. But to state that antibiotics only reduce the pain is BS. Antibiotics attack bacteria and if used in sufficient quantity over an extended period of time along with natural immune stimulation, you can heal an infection within a tooth in some cases.....A Root Canal should be the last RESORT

@@FrozenMermaid666 I HAVE SUFFERED from at least four gum boils and they did NOT produce pain. In the past I simply used a needle, squeezed the boil and blood and puss was emitted. Recently I had a tooth infection. How do I know? I also have a hole in my tooth where food can easily be forced downwardly. Bacteria use the food for food and begin multiplying. And the gum around the tooth on one side swelled. I used an insulin needle and shot alcohol into the gum several times. Bear in mind alcohol...rubbing alcohol...kills most bacteria. I poured alcohol around the tooth five times per day. Alcohol is absorbed into the mucous membrane. Absolutely take your antibiotic...Plus take immune enhancers..large doses of vitamin c, and a top notch multi vitamin, no some cheap crap at Walgreens....Google what bacteria infect a tooth infection. Next google what antibiotic is used to treat that bacteria. Also, irrigate water into that hole in your tooth, keep food out of the hole. BTW, I dont always have much pain with gum boils...Pain comes from a deep infection inside the root of a tooth. Dentists want us to believe every infect ion is that type>>>No.

Having my teeth pulled out throughout my life, amoxicillin can only control and suppress a tooth infection. Dentist will give you a brand of amoxicillin you will use for the duration of 5 to 7 days in hopes the medicine will control the abscess enough so that any upcoming dental procedures will be at less pain. But then again, each human bodies are different so a brand of amoxicillin may react strongly or weak to each person, I you notice the brand given to you is not improving the condition of your toothache, change your amoxicillin brand.

I wonder why dentists only prescibe 5 days worth? ... and then 2 more days if the infection is still there. Regular medical doctors prescribe 10 days worth of Amoxicillan. They are also very clear on "finish all of your medicine ... even if you feel better". So isn't taking 5 or even 7 days kinda like not finishing what a doctor would prescribe? This very thing is happening to me right now. 7 days of antibiotic...swelling went down about 60-70 % ... stayed that way for abt 1 month, now swelling back up with abcess again.

By the way, if a dentist did the RC correctly, normally there should be no more infection in that tooth - because I had a root canal over a decade ago for another molar that was on the right side, but it was one of the upper molars, and after I had the root canal and filling done, there was no more infection or ache in that upper molar, not even once in more than a decade, so that was a pretty solid filling, and the infected tissue was all taken out, and even the nerve was taken out, and, back then I didn’t take any antibiotics, and I don’t remember to have ever taken any antibiotics before, though I will start taking Amoxicillin antibiotics tomorrow for 14 days, to see if the swelling disappears from my lower molar that’s also on the right side, because I cannot go to the dentist at the moment!

Girl?u sure?4 to 5 months?bruh that can lead to serious health issues,go to your dentist and get that tooth remove, don't overuse antibiotics,if the amoxicillin ain't working anymore because your body are got used to it already that's why it's not reacting to the antibiotic and getting tooth extraction or root canal is the only way to save that tooth

Have a Blood Culture and Sensitivity test, chances are, you are already resistant to Amoxicillin and other penicillin based antibiotics.
