4:50, I use white, and I wouldn’t call myself a beginner. I know I can’t really show any proof that I am not a beginner, but I’ve been doing art for about 4 years now (which, some could still say that is a beginner, I guess). And though I need to use the cheapest watercolor I can find, that doesn’t make me any less accomplished or unprofessional/a novice to watercolors. I like bold pastel colors and the white helps accomplish that. This kinda sounds like an attack/rant, I don’t mean that, but I think that others who use white shouldn’t be labeled as beginners or only using it for a smoky effect even if I’m the only one who believes this. P.S.: I know teachers/professors ban white and other colors but I use it because it works the best with my style.
@darshanmahajan64955 жыл бұрын
True, I myself like to use white to portray smoky effects or sometimes even lighten the colour when just water doesn't do the trick. I have been working with watercolors for two years now. I guess you could call me a beginner but not because of the use of white.

I just purchased the Windsor & Newton Cotman 14 half pan set, and you can fit 9 additional half pans in the case if you purchase them individually from somewhere such as dickblick.com. 6 fit perfectly across where the brush is kept, and 3 can fit in the tiny water bowl. So now my 14 pan set is actually 23 pans and way cheaper than their other sets for more - with colors I actually want rather than what they standardized in their pricey sets. Give it a try, maybe you can squeeze more into your set and you didn't even know it.

The Windsor and newton watercolours are very good quality in general, but the price is such a bummer.. I have the big palette... but my savings really took a hit.. but they are really good! Sounds like this is still a student grade watercolor set. No info on pigments? Lighfastness? True red, alizarin crimson or ultramarine blue? No way Jose. Also, while it sounds like a good thing that the colors didn't separate when you mixed them together, it sounds like there weren't any granulating colors. (ultramarine anyone?) Also tube paint that can't be dried and reused? That's some janky s--t.

I have tube paint and I can reuse it after it's dried up but it might be the ingredients, I'm still unsure
@justacatwhocantype3 жыл бұрын
@@day6kz No, all watercolor can be reused after is has dried. The problem with some of the cheaper made tube paints though. like the Arteza ones, is that they become very crumbly after the dry. They can still be rewet and used, but you have to deal with a whole bunch of paint chips and crumps that you have to rewet, they don't stick nicely to the palette ina one blob like higher quality tube paints do, that's all. Once you get them all soaked and reactivated, you can paint with them just fine.

I like painting nature scenes and space scenes with watercolor and acrylic paint. Art has allowed me to open up about my panic disorder and gives me peace. Very relaxing.

Arteza seems to be on a promo tour, because Arteza reviews are all up in my Recommended, lol. Evvvverybody's getting their products right now and reviewing them. Probably helps boost the algorithm that I almost got their gouache to try and it's still sitting in my cart 😂 But honestly, I was kinda waiting to see if you got them too, and did a review. I trust you a bit more than others, to be honest and fair at the same time. You haven't steered this very-beginner wrong yet. 😊 PS. This very-beginner is trying them out with stylized chics. I've drawn them for years in graphite, but always felt that the learning curve for watercolors was way too much. Feeling braver now and KZfaq is much cheaper than Skillshare. Thanks for all your helpful, encouraging and hella entertaining guidance. 😊

I like experimenting with watercolors. From flowers to people, to calligraphy and animals. It's honestly extremely satisfying painting with water colors because of how smooth and even a color can be with just a spritz of water and a brush.

That many yellows, yeesh. I'm usually good with just a few- Bismouth, Hansa, and a Gamboge or Azo Yellow. You'd be surprised how much you can mix with those colors! I'd say these are definitely a higher end student grade paint. And the palette could certainly be reused by the artist when they feel comfortable enough to move on to professional quality. It looks nice enough. :) Well done on this, I enjoyed your video.

I was so so SO afraid of watercolors and I pretty much only did acrylics which actually all sold really well. BUT after just this year entering the theatre technology and Design for costume design I was told all my renderings must be in watercolor. So, I sat myself down and eventually got comfortable with them. So much so that I actually haven’t painted an acrylic piece in a while due to lack of time and I just sold my own first watercolor piece! I always love your videos because you’re truly helping me with this journey and once my check comes in this palette looks perfect for me to get those colors I’m not quite skilled enough to mix on my own. Thank you so much! Can’t wait for my next check to come in to get my hands on this SOB.

Thanks so much for this review! I've been considering buying the watercolor tubes, but I didn't know they weren't suitable for making a palette, which is how I like working best. Honestly, the pan palette has way more yellow/brown tones than I normally use, but the other colors look absolutely gorgeous. And for the giveaway, I mostly paint surrealist and gothic style portraits~!

Painting watercolor galaxies are so fun, easy exercise because you can't really go wrong with a galaxy. Also blushies on faces are fantastic to paint, 100%. I once had this big project I needed to present to my school and I went with a girl with galaxy hair, favorite thing I've ever painted. Love the video, always get Arteza ads and was worried they were kind of like artist loft so I never invested, good to know they're actually quality products!

Some arteza products are really good! I can totally recommend the gouache! But I don't get why you can not buy single paints. Just whole sets. That's such a same. I hope they'll change that...

Thank you for being the ONLY KZfaq creator who didn’t go so hard in praising all arteza I’ve seen so many backtrack on tons of “no-no’s” they hold true to in many videos but then those are out the window when it csme to their arteza review and that ten percent code they get a commission on. they should have more been honest and go to the company like Emily did to note her concerns and still find things she liked to genuinely take to her audience. I will try the paper as I’m still on hunt for a good paper that’s not arches which I can use for practicing.

You know what's funny? I got SO many comments of people saying I gave a biased, only positive review! I was like "B...but I didn't..." I think they just watched the pro portion and didn't bother to finish watching to see what I really thought of these watercolors. I appreciate that you watched the whole thing!

I love painting with the Winsor and Newton with arteza’s water color mix media. It is just so smooth moving on the paper and blends so well. 10/10 best supplies I’ve ever used for watercolor.

I'm not sure if she has reviewed the arteza watercolor tube set, but I would love if she did a seperate video on that and talk about it. I really like them they are smooth and bright. I did know before purchasing them that they fell off. So right when I got a hold of them I got a tube and a pan, pouring about 1/3 of hunny in the pan and mixed it with the watercolor paint from the tube. I've heard that most bindings used for watercolor are hunny so I tried it with one tiny pan to try it out and not waste all of my paint if it didn't work out. I didn't expect it to work but it did, it looked like a normal watercolor pan and worked amazing. I don't know if there was a difference since I didn't really test it out by the tube itself. So now they don't fall off and are like normal watercolors, plus I am saving a bit of paint. I also love it because it has a white. I do not use it to lighten colors, it turns pastel and I feel like whites in general make things muddy if you mix it. Although I do use it as gauche in a way, the white is really opaque which makes things pastel. So I use that to my advantage and use it for tiny highlights. :)
