Today I went shopping for Nigerian youtuber's dad @SassyFunkeat the midrand china town mall. Are the chinese malls slowly becoming the new convinience shops for South Africa? Drop a comment.

@@MegaNanoT I do not think that white people own all the malls. I’m just curious. I live in the US, where African American ownership is extremely low. I saw a video of a black owned mall somewhere in Johannesburg but I cannot remember the name of it. I’ll be visiting soon.

Well, south Africa has thousands of south African malls. South African malls are not really bult in conjunction with anything other than modern SA structures (international standards). You should know having been in south Africa for some time that most malls are called according to the name of the area or our icons. Chinese malls are just a fraction of a fraction of malls in south Africa and are very tiny compared to our malls that have hundreds of shops in just one mall. We don really have any complaints about Chinese businesses in south Africa as they always registered businesses and they create that competition that keeps things affordable.
@TinoSparks2 жыл бұрын
you are right, my argument is as modernised as the malls are why can’t we build our malls in a way that reflects our culture. you can go anywhere around the world you would not miss a chinese mall, it looks chinese! why don’t our malls reflect africa. it’s only a few that do
@W.GlobalAffairs2 жыл бұрын
@@TinoSparks , true that, we have to find away to curve our traditional structures into the new. But we already started with calabash stadium in Johannesburg - Soccer City. We should do more

We dont have money how we can build a mall. Asian must invest building malls nothing rong about dey created job oppotunity
@TinoSparks2 жыл бұрын
Interesting, That's why we have such conversations. Why can't we Africans invest within ourselves, Creating manufacturing industries for our selves, building these malls by ourselves, manage our own malls , employ our own . Use the profits to develop Africa. Is better than just having shop floor workers with the lowest wage rate getting employed by the chinese, You know the story ... Africans are capable, we just have funds mishandled by the minority. and such videos are made to bring awareness to fellow Africans. WE ARE CAPABLE
@marcosgarvey71292 жыл бұрын
why we don't build our own malls in an African style, the answer to that question is heartbreaking, but it true we Africans have yet to invent the wheel while other races have gone to occupy the mars. we must find our own path which was lost many centuries ago slavery and colonialism have kept us at the bottom rung. Chinese civilization has dominated the world from year one up to eighteenth century, for the past forty years they are making a sturdy comeback to reclaim the dominant status. within ten years from now they are likely to surpass USA to become a powerful country once again.
@TinoSparks2 жыл бұрын
this is true, we can do it one step at a time. We cant sit back and continue to blame slavery
@TheIrieman152 жыл бұрын
Mr Garvey I see why you think the way you do but Africans have also influenced the world in many ways not imagined or acknowledged. A couple decades ago the Chinese were not in the game now, from imitation to innovation, they are able to compete with the might of the USA. Time is needed to see the rise of this continent and the youth will make that happen.

I thought there was a difference between a mall and convenience store. Another thing, how many china malls have you seen to give the impression that they are taking over. There are thousands of convenience stores and thousands of malls in South Africa. Your "topic" is pushing the narrative that China is taking over Africa. There china malls in America and Canada too. You are just vying for views. You need to tell the true African stories.

Same people complain about RSA but they will say nothing about the mess in their counties. why don't you deal with the issues in your country before you complain about South Africa
